My 2015 CVO Road Glide with 18,000 miles on it is in the shop right now getting a new engine due to crankshaft bearing failure. Of course, I'm out on the road traveling so the nearest Dealer was Thunderbird Harley in Albuquerque, NM--I'm stuck for 3 or 4 extra days. Is this a common occurrence with these 110 cuin motors?
Wow, that is an issue that was suppose to be addressed back when the 110 first came out; I had that problem with engines number 2, 3 & 4 in that were replaced in 2007 and 2008 on my 2007 CVO Road King.

You ought to ask the repairing dealer what they will give you in trade with your new motor. Then get a new one with a new 2 year warranty and be on your way.

Best regards

This dealer has a 2017 Road Glide Ultra, not a CVO, but I was considering doing as you suggest. I think the only thing it lacks is power locks and the CB.

Hate to reward HD for making crap by buying a new one and giving them more money.

Was this because of a failure, or just for prevention?

Cam bearing or crankshaft?

Noticed a new ticking sound and had them checked.

Cat, good catch on the lifter ticking, only a matter of time before it wrecked much, much more.

18,500 miles on my SEUC. Just replaced lifters with S&S premiums, rocker lockers and fullsac exhaust. The engine is much quieter now. Old lifters looked fine. Bike has more torque and sounds great!

Did you use adjustable push rods?

I used the stock PRs since I was installing the Lockers and removing the rockers and boxes anyway. I also replaced both breather assemblies while I had it apart.

I'm at 71,000 miles on my 2013 CVO Roadglide, still going strong, but thinking of doing the 110 -117 upgrade now

My FLTRSE3 had her cherry busted, 56xxx miles and tore the engine down. Worse thing I found was the rear ACR was not even finger tight. Guess it's been that way all along, the CCP would show good, I never did a leakdown test.
I'm a DIY'er so I chose to rebuild the OEM engine from the cases up.  :drink: I could have bought a S&S replacement engine on what I have spent in parts, it's a slippery slope.

Ready to begin the assembly process as soon as I quit getting the stink eye from my wife about neglecting other matters around the house.

Wish me luck  :orange:
