Would I reall benefit from a cam upgrade
« on: August 08, 2016, 06:36:43 PM »

Hello

I own a 2015 CVO Street Glide and was thinking about upgrading my cam

Been a 110" motor the only mods I have done are a Replacement K&N Air Filter and a V&H Power Duals with the Monster Rounds exhausts I was thinking about upgrading my cam to a S&S 551 or Woods tw222 cams

I riding style is between 2000rpm to 3500rpm, if thus helps

Is it really worth the costs

Would I really Benefit from a cam upgrade or would I better off with just a good Dyno Tune with the standard SE 255 cam

Any advise would be appreciated

Cheers Darren

The 255 is a good cam for those rpm's..  I would just get it tuned.  Good luck.

I agree. You have a nice exhaust setup already. 255 is great for your riding range. You'll be cruising right where its making most of it's torque.

I'm using stock cams. .  Couldn't be happier. . I ride like you. . I wouldn't do it.  Stuart.

The stock cam made for your riding style, I wouldn't change it if I was you. Agree with Boatman, tune it and enjoy it!

you may want to look at the S&S .583,a more "non epa" type grind, but will give power in pretty much the same RPM as the 255,will also cool the motor a bit compiared to the 255

Wanted to add that if you really feel the need to put another set of cams in there, the guy who does my work has had very good results with the Cyclerama 570 as a bolt in. On more than one bike he’s gotten 100 foot pounds around 1700RPM, and it’s stretching out just a tad farther than the 255. Maybe nothing you’d feel to justify the cost, just thought I’d share. Here is a 103 with a nearly identical exhaust setup as yours.

Definitely not worth the cost in your riding range, especially if you're having a shop do the labor install. Stick with the 255 and get a good dyno tune.

2015 CVO extensively tuned by Brian at Panama City HD. Fullsac DX head pipe drilled and bungs put in to get exhaust gas readings right off the ports,  D& D mufflers. HD race tuner. 100 hp and 115 torque.  Bike pulls strong to 6,000 rpm and plenty of down low power.  This dealership has used this set up on multiple bikes with same results.

I admit this bike isn't as fast as my 2010 CVO with 10.5 comp and 259 cam but is much more rideable and you run it in 6th gear under 70mph.

Hi

Just want to say thankyou to everyone for there assistants

That's what I thought nothing really  to be gain from what I already have except for a good tune

I already have a Power Vision which I bought from Fuel Moto 12 months ago, I'm having pro cycles in Brisbane Dyno tune my bike,  these guys have the best reputation to get the best out of Harley's
And they specialise in power vision and SE Pro Tuners as well

From my understanding Pro Cycles dyno  also race Harley's as well, so I think that is to my advantage

Thanks again everyone

Cheers Darren
