Did you check crank runout?  If it's large, it'll wear the oil pump and reduce oil flow.  Seems like lifters are very sensitive to oil flow/pressure.  Might help to put a mechanical oil pressure gauge on the oil pressure sender fitting to check, since HD gauge is known to be inaccurate.

BTW, the TTS100 cam can be noisy too, especially with borderline lifters/oil pressure.
Oil is around 30 to 32 at cruise. 15 to 20 at hot idle. Can anyone tell us if the 259 is less noisy than the 255?
