Anyone do a solo tour pak. I'm thinking of doing this on my 15. Any pictures would be helpful.
Thanks

It is the solo tour pak mount    " DETACHABLE SOLO TOUR-PAK MOUNTING RACK P/N 53000225"  as well as the "Tour-Pak® Spacer Kit P/N 53000461"
you need the second item when mounting the chopped tour pak to the solo mount to allow clearnace to open your saddle bag lids

Same 4 point detachable system, but the tour pak base mount is shorter to position the tour pak farther front.

I just happen to have one that came with the pak i bought. Switched the base mount to the 2 up version. Same system but the arms are longer for 2 up.

I don't know which one you have vs what it typical but its not a matter of shorter arms moving it forward for solo or longer for 2 up.......  The solo mount uses the shock mounts and the forward two points of the 4 point docking mount, the 2 up mount uses all 4 points of the 4 point dock mount. the brackets are entirely different in shape and where they attach to the bike.

Sorry, perhaps I wasnt clear enough. The bike mount system is the same. Only difference is you need the 4 point for two up and can get away with 2 point for solo. Base pak mounts are the difference.

Solo

2 up

Does anyone know of an adjustable bracket for a solo mount. I can't rest my back on the backrest and is about 4" from my back. If it could adjust forward that would be great  Any ideas?

I know when I was using the Harley Solo Tour Pak mount I fabricated a plate that relocated the mounting points, mounted it between the tour pak and the rack and viola I had a tour pak I could lean back on...

I just drilled a couple of extra holes in the mounting bracket to allow my tourpack to sit a little more forward.  works just fine.

Hey paconico

Just put a chopped pak on my 17. My wife rides her own so I like the solo setup. The pak is just stock black, currently undecided if I will bother painting it to make the cvo paint scheme as I will rarely ride with it on.

I need King tour pack to go forward 5 inches so my back touches the backrest. I could make a bracket to bring it forward but then the solo tour pack mount would be exposed on the backside. Maybe I need to keep my solo backrest on and the King tour pack backrest for looks. Thoughts anyone?

Thanks

5" sounds like a long way to go. Are you sure you have the one-up "solo" mounting bracket? On my bike and my wife's as well the back rest is within 1" of my back when adjusted fully forward. My wife is 5'8" and she is within 2". Not sure why you are 5" away.

I'm sure to all of the above I'm only 5'5" tall. Are all you guys using chopped tour packs because I'm using the king, that may be the difference in inches.

no, that isn't it either.  the king tourpack and the chopped tourpack have the same footprint, the only difference is the king is 3 inches taller.  and i'm 5'4'', so i'm even shorter than you are.  it really does sound like you have a two up rack as opposed to the solo rack.

posted a pic a few posts up.  if i moved mine 5 inches, it would either be falling off the back of the bike, or half over the seat.

Paconico,

That is the solo set up for sure. You must be sitting a fair bit forward on your seat. My two cents would be to fabricate a plate that would allow you to move the pak further forward, or possibly rig something to move the backrest itself further forward without moving the pak. (possibly some combination of the two) Another consideration would be to look into changing out your handle bars. They do make a bar called the "reach bar" and that may allow you to sit further back in the seat. May be worth looking into.

Have you had any luck with moving that tour pak forward. My wife has asked for hers to be moved up about another inch. So I sketched up a bracket design that will allow it to move forward approximately 3.5" and having a friend with a tool shop making up a set. Let you know how it goes.

LBB,

I hadn't any luck, I like your idea with the mark-up. Could the bracket be made adjustable to 5". The other thing is anything over 3" forward will expose the mounting bracket unless you trim it forward so you cant see it. Let me know how it works for you I'd like one also. This could be a money maker too.

Thanks

Will let you know how it works. If I got it right this should move the pak forward a max of 4" with 2.5" adjustment rearward. Unfortunately to get 5" the bracket would need to be longer to the point where it would be visible sticking out the rear of the pak.

Brackets completed and installed. Did not get as much adjustment as I thought I would but was able to move the pak forward another 2" which works well for the wife. photos attached

So what would you do different to at least get 4 inches?
Did you have any issues with the mounting bracket screws?
Let me know,
 Thanks

OK after the wife road with this set up for a few days she asked for it to be moved further forward. I put the 1/2" metal spacers that came with the original setup under my fabricated spacers. This allowed me to access the full length of the slots and move forward approx 3.75" from the original position. I'm sure that a fabricated spacer could be made about an inch longer and get 4.75".

Hope this helps.

I had this set made up at a local machine shop. Anyone with a Bridgeport could easily make these. Cost me $130.00 CND.
If you like I could take a photo with finished sizes for you. Do you have anyone locally that could have a go at it?

That would be great. I'll find some here or I can send you money. Either way works for me.
Thanks

Paconico here are the sizes. These can be modified if you want additional length. Sorry for the delay. It's riding season lol.

Thanks for the information. already got a guy working on the dimensions he got a best guess estimate on some of the dimensions.  What type of material did you use I'm using aluminum.
I just need to get some longer bolts from the tour pack to the bracket what length are the bolts were you using.
Thanks for everything this helped out a lot.

Yes I used aluminum and painted them black. Bolts were 1.75 I believe. Good luck and let me know how it works out for you.

Its an Apple thing.. only way to fix it is turn your phone prior to taking the picture..  You used to be able to save it to computer and flip them... Not any more.     Google it!

... and if anyone clicks on the link at the bottom of your pics to open them up, they come up the right side up!

At least that is what I do whenever I see a pic sideways on this site.

Works for me!   :2vrolijk_21:

I have a king tour pak with a solo mount for mine. When installed, there is not enough clearance to open the saddle bags. I will need to use some spacers to make it work. Here is a pic of mine. It's from my old 2013 CVO road glide. I will have it painted to match the 17 CVO street glide later.

Hey Singlebeam. That should be an easy fix for you. You may even be able to find a simple nylon spacer at Lowes that will work for you.

Or Harley sells a spacer for solo mounts. it's about $40.00. I'm surprised the dealer didn't tell you that you needed one
