I bought my 2017 CVO Limited at the end of Oct 2016. I rode it 1500miles by mid December and decided to upgrade to Stage 3 (117cylinders/pistons + valve springs + SE Street Cannons + Hi-Capacity clutch w/ 1200N springs) before the 60 days ran out to have the Stage 3 upgrade included in the originally factory warranty.

The factory stock bike dynoed at 86/115 SAE 5th gear.

The Stage 3 117 with the 498 cam dynoed at 103/116 SAE 5th gear.

Of course, Harley then launched their Stage IV in January after I had the Stage 3 completed in December. I decided after another 500 miles with the Stage 3, I would get the Stage IV upgrade. I had my local dealer upgrade the bike with the Stage IV parts – 64mm Throttlebody, 5.5gms/sec injectors, CNC ported heads, 515 SE cam and the Harley ECM flash.

SOUND: I’m generally not that concerned about the “sound” of my bike. I run a Fatcat on my other bike with lots of engine mods. It’s very powerful and sounds like a solid lifter big block Chevy …in other words, loud and “pissed off” all the time. The bike always sounds “angry” and is sure to wake up everyone and everything around me. My new bike’s combination of the 117 + SE Street Cannons is just “PERFECT” from my perspective. Very low, deep sound. Crisp and very Harley-like but calm enough that 2up riding for thousands of miles will be a pleasure compared to the Fatcat.

POWER: Wow!...The numbers are really strong 128/128 for a build with all internal Harley parts but putting the numbers aside, the ride is EVERYTHING I hoped it would be and more. The SE hi-capacity clutch with 1200N springs ran on the dyno with no slippage at all. No need for a clutch upgrade. I ran the bike about 120 miles yesterday. Tons of low end torque. Roll the throttle at 2000 rpms and the bike jumps to attention. Wack the throttle at 3000 on the highway and you’ll snap the bike easily for a pass. If you really want to rip, pull the throttle hard all the way to 6200rpms…it never runs out of power. No blips or backfires or soft spots. Just a completely sweet running bike.

128/128 nice square numbers, especially without changing any parts (cams for instance)...The elimination of heat is also a bonus.

I like the idea of 128/128 numbers. Fuel Moto is definitely the way to go if you're doing a Stage IV build. I also would love to get rid of the heat in the right foot well. It's very uncomfortable on long rides. I'm happy enough right now, with my stock CVO Limited, but when the factory warranty runs out, I may well opt to take my bike to Fuel Moto and have them do a Stage IV build.

Changing subject, a close friend of mine purchased the 107 Stage IV kit when he purchased his M8 SGS. Everything was on the original sales order, so hopefully warranty will not be a problem. This takes the 107 to 114. They sold him the Vance & Hines tuner and he went with D & D exhaust. After waiting until April 2017 for parts (he purchased the new bike in January), the build was done. His final dyno #s were 115/115 - not impressive in my book, since that is exactly what I got out of my Stage IV 103 build. I think he is planning on taking it to a local builder to pull more power out of it.
