Programming the key fob
« on: November 04, 2017, 01:21:32 PM »

***************** UPDATE *******************
The 'fresh' battery I put in the key fob was also dead! After a quick trip to CVS and the installation of a new battery all's well. Now it's the bike's battery's turn!!!1 :(
*******************************************

So for reasons beyond my control my 2013 CVO breakout was sitting in the garage since September 2016. Now I am ready to get it rolling again but it does not recognize the key fob (put fresh battery in it this AM and still no luck)! I have tried to find out how to reprogram the key fob but all the tutorials, etc. are about those old fashioned HD bikes with the on off switches and key fobs with a button to push! As you might know the CVO breakout does not have either!

Anyone have any idea how to program the key fob on the CVO BO?

Thank you in advance.

it shouldn't be necessary.  the ecm just doesn't 'forget' the fobs.

are you sure you didn't put the battery in upside down?

I'm sure. The bike's battery is around 12.5 volts (it was on a trickle charger all this time but still...) so have it on a charger. Might have to get a new battery for the bike as well. But the key fob should work even with the bike's battery being low. It does not. I have to enter the security code. The bike won't start because of the low voltage but that's a different problem (I think).

Speaking of batteries for the bike, any recommendations? I may have to buy a new battery.

either the yuasa or the deka big crank.  both can be had for about $100, delivered to your door.

I would get the new battery for the bike to be sure it has proper voltage and amps, than see if the fob works.
Low battery voltage can affect how well the modules work.
