Time to refill. Opened lines when doing 117 kit. What your flavor? Harley only? Something from wally world?  What coolant are you using for the twin cooled bikes?

Found out Harley stuff is OAT. Organic Acid Technology. Something to do with how it’s made and good for aluminum motor. Made by Old World Industry. Few people say they spoke to company, which is Peak, and closest thing is Global 50/50 blend in Gold bottle. It’s green but what most are using. Again this is Internet forum talk.

Stuff is not stocked anywhere in Pittsburgh....cost the same as Harley stuff if shipped through eBay or Amazon. So go to Dealer to pick up gallon.  Not stocked.

Go back to advanced auto and pick up Peak Global 50/50 Final Charge.  OAT stuff. Made by Old World Industry Deisel stuff, red, and good for gas motor including aluminum. Cost $17. Which leaves room to be the same $24 Harley stuff.  Not saying it is...

Mine has had Peak 50/50 in it for almost 2 years. Dealer had to replace lowers due to stripped fasteners and damaged one of the radiators so I changed over then. Personal preference only.

HD's service procedure for my 2018 RGU requires changing the OAT coolant every 30,000 miles, which is way sooner than required by the auto and heavy truck manufacturers--they are anywhere from 100K miles (auto) to 1 million miles (heavy diesels)  (although the hauling industry requires testing of the OAT coolant for proper levels of additives).  I will stick to the 30K requirement, though, just to maintain the warranty.

I've also bought the Peak Global Final Charge 50/50 OAT coolant to top up the reservoir.  It's one of many that are approved by the industry as meeting all the standards, and it's readily available through AutoZone--in fact, several of my local stores keep it in stock, and at a very reasonable price.  The nice thing about this coolant is that, as long as the current coolant is good, there's no drain-n-fill needed; just start using the new stuff to top up.

Bought a gallon of the HD Jan. 2017.  Wondering what the shelf life would be???  Cause that gallon could last a long time.
