Bag Question
« on: April 11, 2018, 05:36:57 PM »

Will '14 Street Glide bags fit on the older frames, like my '09?

I've found a great deal on a pair with the lid speakers, but need to be repainted to match my '09 SERG.

Just wondering if they'll fit.

Thanks.

Dan, I looked into this after my 2009 went down just after the 15 Road Glide have been introduced. The answer is not exactly but you can make it work. As I recall, the bags would fit but you needed to drill or route out the front attachment to make it work. I remember researching this at the time and someone from roadglide.org had posted a how-to. If I can find the article for you again, I will.

not really a difficult thing.  the rear bag mount fits fine.  the front bag mount will need to be adjusted.  there have been a few people that have not had to do anything other than adjust those.  others have had to elongate the hole in the support just a touch.  that's all there is to it.

Thanks for the replies and tips.

I'll check out roadglide.org and see what I can find.

Just one more thought/question.

As you all know, the '09 had a faux lower bag extension, not a true redesign, just an add-on.

Will the lower add-on's work on the standard '14 bags?  I can find standard bags cheap, but I'm sure that the SGSE bags are going to be very expensive.  Sorry, I've just not been someplace yet that I can place my bag next to a later '14 or newer bag.  Just thought maybe someone has done it already.

Thanks again.

It took a bit of time, but on roadglide.org I found a link to HDforums about retrofitting +'14 bags on '13 older.

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touring-models/1105909-2014-and-later-rushmore-saddle-bags-on-2013-and-earlier-bikes.html

Hope this helps others here on bag choices.  It would be nice to be able to open my bag with just one hand.

Will the lower add-on's work on the standard '14 bags?

..... no
.. moco only makes extensions for pre Rushmore bags
