07 Twin turbo Stroke
« on: May 11, 2007, 07:40:05 AM »

Got one of the guys a new 07 Stroke. (F250 4wd xtended cab)

What a kick ass machine!

Bill you gonna love it!

Most amazing thing,
On the quite scale of 1 to 10
If silence is 0 and my 06 Stroke is an 9 the 07 is a 3.
World of difference!
Plus, I like the hood and grill opening at the same time!
There are 6 radiators on that puppy.

 :2vrolijk_21:
But it's a pain in the but to find that ultra low sulfur fuel!

It is a good truck. To my knowledge there are only two parts left over form the 6.0 litre (piece of crap), the cam and block. Production had halted (and since has resumed) as Navistar and Ford were in a pissing match over warranty and costs of the 6 litres. The new truck is loaded with cool stuff as the price reflects. I own a 350 Crew Cab Dually 4X4 and to replace it is $52K. I'm torn between taking on a new payment/new truck or keeping mine which has given me very little trouble (7.3 litre).

A customer has one too.  His air to air has already been hit by a rock-the grille openings are too large IMO but looks good.  Too many coolers to damage out front.  Any major repairs and the cab comes off as firewall connections are quick disconnect.   He has had 2 recall campaigns in his 2008 F550SD..

A non regular customer called in with a 6.0PS in an 04 E350 van with 70,000 miles yesterday.  The interior of the fuel tank came uncoated (for lack of better words) and he needed a quote on a fuel tank, filters, and 8 injectors.  Ford dealer quoted $5800 ..  I told him to call FOMOCO.  He had-they said tough luck according to him.  I said what about the 100K warranty?  He said the fuel tank was 3 years/36 months.  I'm just repeating what I was told yesterday by him.  I'd be a little irate.

People with these engines either love them and have great luck or like the above.

If I had to have a diesel p/u, it would be a damned old Dodge with a Cummins even though I am a Ford man.

S/B-Enjoy your new truck as they are very nice.  But get as long a warranty as you can.

All of my Buds are Ford guys and we all agree the Cummins is the motor to have right now. Last years is better than this years as it lacks a lot of the polution stuff. Nobody buys a Dodge, you buy a Cummins and get a Dodge with it. ;)

I hope that Ford-IHC Navistar finally has it right with the new 6.4  ..  The trucks are great.

My Bud hasn't said much about them. I'll ask at lunch today. He had me stay away from the 6.0 as as mentioned above they are hit and miss.

just dearmin' about the possibility of a 08 (or even 09) Harley Edition F450 requires me to wipe the drool off the desk...

Now when asked I can say it is to haul my boat since it could...if completely unloaded!

Ford does have a good chunk of the market share in the 450/550 line. Around here we are seeing more of the mini tractors running around with huge utility/service bodies on them.

Chip you need to take a ride in a real truck , such as a Chevy 2500 Durmax with the Allison trany My forman just got a new one this week it will snap your neck with a 16 ft trailer and equipment loaded on it.I don,t understand the thinking or lack of it when it comes to the ford or CHEVY debate......... :o :o :o

In the diesel truck world they all have their own purpose.

Dodge is excellent for making power after the purchase of the truck.

Ford has the payload market cornered and may be on to something with this twin turbo if it holds up.

Chevy for years has had an excellent interior. A first choice for a homeowner who tows often.

Test drove the new ford 6.4l when it was in the testing phases. My dealer which is also my sponsor in fishing tournaments let me drive one. The only reason i did not buy one is that it is sooo hard to find the low sulfur fuel. The 6.4 felt like one of my 6.0l with the Banks 6 pack kit on it. Power when you want it and decent fuel mileage.

Puzzled if your 7.3 is still kicking azz don't  ever get rid of it. Best diesel motor out there. I have one with 514,000 miles on it and never been into it. Not ever a glow plug.

I'm over 200K on mine. It's been a good truck. I've been servicing things just for the sake of it. :2vrolijk_21:

Talked my Bud today and he said the 450/550's were cracking injectors due to extreme heat. He said the 250/350's aren't having this problem. The 450/550 trucks already have a fix for it. He said they are really focusing on these trucks.

One ton Dodge Crew, had 5 Ford F350 Crews and couldn't get a white one during Friends and Family in 05.  So I got the Dodge and it is a pulling machine, tow the car hauler with it always loaded with a minimum of 4,000 lbs plus the trailer for around 8k lbs.  Good mileage and never a problem.

Man I have to do something with the trailer wheels they look like chit after the winter.

24'-28'?

24' set up for two bikes forward and a Porsche behind them for cage wheels when on the road for a vacation that will put us someplace for an extended stay.

Otherwise we use it at the dealeship to do new car trades, customer deliveries and service pick up with a loaner drop off.

Great work horse.

Well, my '05 F250 PS hasn't had any problems. It will be 2 YO in July. But, then again, it's a garage queen, with only a litle over 7k miles on it. Shame ain't it? At 4k miles a year I'll have a good 200k on it when I die.

Only way a duradog wil snap my neck is when I turn around to see how far behind it is.

Come on now, you know better than that!

Chief

Happy with my 06 350 Lariat.
15 months old and at 83500 miles and no issues.

As I said earlier the only issue with the 07 we put in service was struggling to find the ultra low sulfur fuel!

That's funny. :orange:

They are called Duraflops around here. They may have a good motor and a great trans but they have a car like front end suspension. Hanging a 9' plus plow blade off of one kills it.
