want to build a 113????
« on: July 17, 2007, 05:17:01 PM »

I own a 07 roadking W/103 now and I am thinking of uping it to a 113!! I was wondering, is it worth it to do that and if so, maybe some of you guys have some ideas on what would be the best way to go??  I know there are many many choices, but I would still like to hear some from you guys!!
                               Especially you Harry  :nixweiss: :nixweiss:
                                                                         Thanks

All I can say is everyone I know thinks that once you crack the case, you get an older Harley. One that leaks. Cheers!

SirMichael113,

If you do this be prepared for a few things, a bigger smile from all the power, a frown from how much lighter your wallet would be.

The only thing you will need to be more concerned with is letting the bike warm up before blowing out the carbon.

If I were doing this and I almost did this on the our pumpkin:

Send the heads and juggs off to be diamond cut, why not go all the way
When the heads and juggs return and have them sent to one of the head guys below.

Wes Brown
Dave Mackie
T-Man
Baisely

Let them tell you what piston to use with their head work on your 103+ heads and which cam they recommend for their heads / pistons combination.

Have them cut your cases for the larger bore for the 113" and also let them put in the timken bearing while they have the cases.

Throttle body by Horsepower Inc.

Roller Rockers
Fueling Lifters
Fueling High Flow Oil Pump
K&N or like high flow air cleaner not the extended one
Adjustable Push-Rods
Cam of Choice
103+ Heads
113" juggs
Horsepower Inc. Throttle Body
V92 VPC
Rivera Pro Clutch

Did this very build a good while back on a 2004 duce, went from 95" to 113" never looked back except to see where everybody went when I left the light!!!!Ha Ha.The only issue I've seen is that it will run a little bit hotter in slow traffic,I've had it ping a little once or twice.I now have 11580 miles on the build, not one drop of oil,has ever leaked or has it ever failed to start and run sooo good you got about a 150 teeth showing.I did the complete screaming eagle by the book build so the dealer would warranty his work!

Where do I find these guys Harry?? Being in northern ILL, I don't know of to many good guys like that around here that do that kind of work. But for something like that, it would be worth a road trip for sure!!

SirMichael,

I think it would be worth while to do a road trip or one other shop you might consider out in your area to look at is at Hal's Speed Shop They are part of Hal's Harley Davidson in New Berlin Wisconsin.   Jeremy and Rob Schopf are good guys and can build what you want if you dont want to go come down and see one of the other guys I mentioned.

Sir m
Check out Hemi-design in cicero ill 708-652-5450. They just took my 07 from 96 to113. They are good people and stand behind their work. Ask about length of warranty on your new build where ever you go . Answers can be supriseing.

make sure you address the crank..it's gonna be out anyway.  straighten it,weld the pin so it cant shift, and have it dynamically balanced.  stock cranks are balanced to 60-80 grams...sounds good but it's not.
a crank done right will come in under 10 grams of imbalance or less...

SirMichael,

If I didn't already own a 124" I would have gone by way of the 120.   For the little bit of extra money you get a spare motor sitting in the garage for a catastrophic failure or to sell to offset your costs.   factoryphil on the site changed his 04 pumpkin over to a 120 and sold off his transmission and his motor to offset the costs then went with black cases for the tranny and a black motor looks really sharp.

If your looking for that little bit more then you can achieve 124 / 120 easily with nothing more than installing the motor, larger throttlebody and a racetuner.   The motor is reliable and runs great.   Then in the future if your so inclined you can do head work more cam, or a 131" inch or a 135" from the 120.

There are a few things if you do this I would suggest.

1.   Horsepower inc 55mm Throttlebody
2.   VPC V92T
3    auto chain tensioner
4.   heavy belt
5.   Get a back rest for your seat so you can stay on :)

I think it is the way I'm going to go, I just want to get some riding in while I can, It will be an end of the summer project!! With the costs & down time that it will be, I would rather finish out the riding season and then do it right ??? ???
I will still need to put a package together and get a rough $$$$ amout soon so I will be ready!! Once I get all the info on parts & costs (approx 2wks), I will post it and you can give me your approval, It would be much appreciated  :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:
I definitly agree, for a few $$$$ more, you get the whole package ;D ;D

                                                  Thanks
