103 stock heads /SE pro 103+ stroker
« on: February 21, 2005, 10:53:01 PM »

I am wondering if the screaming eagle pro twin cam 103+ stroker pistons part # 22483-04  will work with the stock 103 screaming eagle heads. What the compression would come to with the stock gaskets and the .30 cometic gaskets. I am thinking of the se 251 cams with this. Does anyone know  if this would work and everything would have room
with a valve spring kit and adjustable push rods?

Check the chart on Page 47 of the SE performance parts catalog. Harley doesn't recommend these pistons with OE heads. There is a small machined ridge in the SE performance twin cam heads that the stock heads don't have. Its made for the shape of these pistons. I would think with Cometic .030 gaskets that you'd be in the 10.5-10.75 range if you could use these pistons. IMHO 10.5 is about as high as I'd go on a street motor with the mapping that's available. If you stay with your current pistons, which are fine and deck the heads and use the .030 gaskets, you'll get 10.0-1, minimal detonation, easy starting and more than enough power. Again, IMHO you'd be better of with a Wood TW6H or TW6HG cam, but you must have some headwork done also.

On my build with Freedom Cycle, we used this combo. Brad Yuill worked the heads and the throttle body and with stock pistons and decked heads, freedom pipes and PCIII we got 116HP and 121TQ. Freedoms phone is 775-848-8600.
