New Permenent Fix to 110 Motor
« on: May 05, 2008, 11:47:25 AM »

Has anyone heard or gotton an idea of what the new permanent fix is to the 110 motor for its long history of leaking oil. My local dealer has also heard but won't state what the new up coming fix is going to be but Harley has had enough of the temporary fixes that don't work.

Rumors abound, and the latest is that "something" is forthcoming in the next 2-3 weeks.  No idea what that might be, but understand the MoCo is VERY concerned about this issue.

When $$ do not flow into a corporation, the corp. gets concerned.  When $$ flow OUT of a corporation, to fix, re-fix, & re-fix ad nauseum something that so far has not been permanently fixable, the pain of those many $$ leaving creates a need to keep them from leaving.  The MoCo "feels" our pain, and the $$ leaving is just one reason why.

I do need a nap though.  Thanks.  8)

We're just going to have to be patient on this one. After as much time has gone by with the current problem, a couple of weeks ain't bad to see what they've come up with.

They've leaked that something is coming, but are keeping just what that is a secret.

Is the dealer going to look you in the eye and say, remember that problem that wasn't a real problem, the one we kept replacing gaskets of five different designs, we now have a real fix and it was actually a real problem.  (wink, wink)

Anyone out there from the "Show me State"

Yes ! and No !

Yes !
My dealer had repaired ~10   "110ci" and no return !
One bike was tested during a long ride in Egypt without problems.

No ! because I've not the details of his job.
I need to meet the Service Manager to know all and put here.
Some informations :
He send the cylinders to milling (also the news) before to put the news headgaskets (news : means not necessarely B version).
He modifies the Oil pump because it's not always in the Oil.
He dismounts the studs and put back with the right torque.
All new parts are from the MOCO, nothing from the aftermarket.

Again, I need to meet the SM for the right information about this reparation.
I know that it's more worktime than the MOCO gives him but he seems that it's on the right way.

In other words, he's attempting to build a motor correctly with correct parts, unlike the MoCo, who clearly didn't do that with the factory 110. Jacques, whether you know it or not, that post spoke volumes! It's not ours or the dealer's responsibility to do that. But we don't seem to have any other choice so far if you want to eliminate their 110 issues. We'll see what the MoCo has in their bag of tricks now! ;)
