Howie I hate to say it but we got our A$$ handed to us. I was surprised some of the food we tasted was heavy in salt. I use no salt. Go figure. It was still fun the local Fire Department showed up to cheer us on. It was the worst placing we have ever had. I thought "V" was going to cry. She actually thought I was pulling her leg. 22 grand in prize money and we didn't see a dime of it.

Thanks for everyone's well wishes here, and for the help and responses about buying Binx's new car! Especially kb! :2vrolijk_21:

Binx got her anniversary present yesterday! A new RAV4 Sport, fully loaded! Nice little SUV. Was the best of the bunch of similar cars we looked at. We test drove a buncha them yesterday, deciced on the Toyota, and with kb's help on negotiating with car dealers, I got what I thought was a very good deal on one. We had it prepped and was home with it by 7PM last night. She loves it too! Perfect Binxie car! :2vrolijk_21: ;)

Wow, what a nice thing to wake up to! You guys are the best. :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21: :huepfenjump3: :huepfenjump3: :huepfenjump3:

Just so ya know, Binx never was on a bike before she met me. I trained her to be able to be Hoist's BSR. Set the bike up for her comfort and safety! She loves it back there, and speed doen't bother her on the bike. I don't think it's possible for her to ever forget the term "Passenger Neutral"! Now the cage, that's a whole nuther story. That's when I get my punches from her! :o ;)

Today is spa day for us. There's a new huge place that opened up not far from us. It has everything so you can spend an entire day there (And $$$ to I'm sure)!

And now Don Pardo, tell Binx what she's won! (Let's see how long it takes her to find that out cause she'll have to read it here first. Prolly wondering why there was no gift!) I'm getting Binx a new car for herself, as soon as she figures out which one. Smaller model with decent gas mileage. Looking at the RAV4 and the Mini Cooper right now. Any other suggestions? :confused5:

Ken, We're destined to remember each others special day forever now! Unless of course like you, I forget my anniversary!!! ::) ??? ;D ;)

Hoist! 8)

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY Y'ALL, YOU GUYS, WHATEVER!   :)   Have a fun day at the spa!

Hey Howie, give Terry a call ... he sells Toyota's.

Howie and Binx...Happy belated Anniversary wishes, my friend.

The Rav 4 is a good choice..the most economical SUV on the market.  Did you get the 2.4 liter or the V6?  Either is a good choice...the 2.4 liter has great power and TQ for a 4 cylinder engine because of the VVT-i.  The V6 is also a great engine.  Both have no timing belts to replace...all Toyota engines with the exception of the 3.3 liter V6 (only used on the Highlander Hybrid-a waste of money...it takes 10 years to pay for itself in gas savings) and the Solara (2 door Camry) still use this engine.  It will soon be phased out, IMO.

The Prius is a great vehicle...we have a 15 person waiting list with deposits down.  Few, if any, dealers have any in stock...Toyota cannot keep up with the demand right now and they are selling for over MSRP.  Look for a redesign on the Prius in 2010.

We cannot keep anything that gets over 30mpg on the lot right now, other than Camry's (which still will get over 30mpg with the 2.4).  Corolla's, Matrix, Prius, and Yaris are selling like hotcakes.

Thanks Terry and Suzanne! :2vrolijk_21:

We got the 4 cyl Terry. It had the best power of all the comparable cars we looked at. And none rode as well either. The car suits Binx perfectly and we were looking for something with decent mileage this time around. I'm a glutton for punishment anyway. I'll try calling ya and you can let me know how good I did (or not)! ;D ;)

And best of luck with your new position at Toyota! Had I realized it, I mighta bought mine in BHam! Any chance of you and Suzanne getting up to Huntsville on Fri evening or Sat and meeting up? Would be great to see you guys again! :huepfenjump3:

Excellent choice, Howie!  The 2.4 Liter is the same motor as the stock Camry, XRS Corolla, and XRS Matrix...a proven engine design that will last you guys many, many miles, and is capable of 30mpg, even in the Rav, if you keep your foot out of it and run 70 on the interstate.  158HP/162TQ, if my memory serves me.  Even around town, it will still get 22 or better, depending on traffic conditions.  With the Variable Valve Timing, the intake cam timing is changing to give you the TQ/HP when it's needed, and still delivers good fuel economy.  The electronic transmission also "learns" how you drive, has automatic downshifting when you brake going down a hill.  It is an excellent vehicle, as are all Toyotas.  The braking system and safety features are unsurpassed.  The Sport edition has a few extras as well...did you guys get the JBL Audio system with Bluetooth?  It's an awesome system.  Even if not, it still has a good stereo in it.  It's also a nice ride since they updated it.  I sold a Sport to a nice lady the other day and she is very happy with the vehicle.  Binx will be very happy with the comfort and easy driving.

At this point in time, the only time off I get is on Sunday and one day during the week, so weekends are pretty much shot for us until I start making a decent living again, which takes some time in the car business.  Would love to see you guys too, but it'll have to wait, I guess.

Well, I'll have to get down to see you guys another time then!

The car they had in stock had every option except the JBL. We got it with the 6 CD changer. Like you said, they can't get enough of these type cars these days. So our choice was between a Silver Sport and a Slate Sport. She liked the Slate w/Black interior, so that's what we got! He's adding the XM radio, wheel locks and matched color body side moldings in their Service Dept as they are dealer installed accessories. Binx will bring it back in for those next week! She loves the car though. Thanks for the vote of confidence in it! :2vrolijk_21:
