When the Numbster (08SEUC3) goes in for the enhancement next month, I want to add a swingarm stabilizer. Is True Track still the way to go? I see Progressive and others now offer similar models? Do we still get group discount from True track? All advice welcome.

If you are dead set on installing one and not replacing the bushings in your swing arm.....then use one that does not bolt directly to your oil pan. Too much stress on the bolt holes will oblong the holes in your trans case.

comfortablynumb,
ragdocktor AKA Ron @ True Track is great to deal with and offers us a discount when you mention being a member at the time of the order. I just purchased the stabilizer and the Baker Plus One oil pan from Ron, and my dealer is installing them during the 10,000 mi service and  HD "enhancement" program. If you purchase the pan from True Track you not only get the discount, the pan has a boss machined in the pan to attach the stabilizer and eliminate the cage that hogasm is refering to. You also have an extra quart of oil in the engine. All around great deal! Check out the pan at Baker Drivetrain. Good Luck!

Do you have creditable knowledge that this is happening? Just curious, I have not heard of any issues in regards to your claim yet  :nixweiss:

I have used a Tru-Trak on 2 bikes with over 20k of hard riding and have not experienced this problem. If the brace is installed properly using the correct torque specifications and thread locker this should not be an issue.

There are several different brands, they all do about the same thing. It's like talking about exhaust! You should just look them over and make a choice based on the one you like best. There's True-track, TWR, Bagger Brace, Ride-STR8, Progressive suspension, and I'm sure there are others.

I did the same, and added the TT TruePivot bonze swingarm bearings/SS pivot shaft setup as well! And yes, mention this site to them upon ordering and they'll apply a discount! ;)

I just spoke with Kay at True Track today 1/20/09.  The company is offering another great group buy to CVO members.  We need a minimum of 10 units ordered.  The unit for the 2009 models is in the works as we speak and availability is expected in March 09.  For all 2008 and older bikes True Track is available now.  Kay has asked we not call to place orders until she posts a CVO order code.

Once you get the information start a new thread in the "Group Buy" board.

I tend to agree with you. If torqued down probably (bolts not loose :P) I don't see the issue with the oblong bolt holes happening. I went out on both my bikes (each about 6K miles on the braces) no problems at all. Cosh darn it,, had to reapply lock tight so they stays tight...  ::)

If it hasn't happened to Hoist's Cybil then I'm not going to worry about it.   :huepfenjump3:

I did not think that there would be any problem with an oil pan bolted unit......till I had another oil leak and it was comming from the pan. The threads in the trans case were destroyed beyond a heli coil. They needed to be welded up and re tapped.

i am using the True Track and I love it.   No vibration issues at all and it feels like bike is on rails. I won't be without one.

It sounds like the unit wasn't  installed by following directions given by true-track for torque specs on the pan.  If blue lock tight was not used, which lubes the threads, this would cause the threads to pull out.   Harley factory specs for torgue should be applied to the five bolts removed.  By following these directions the trans case threads can not be destroyed nor can an oil leak occur.
