Browns Plating.  Alabama, I think.  Triple Plate.  Hard to beat!  Later--HUBBARD

Could be.  They were around in '01, for Ol' Maudie.  Still looks like new!  That's all I know about that!  [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif] Later--HUBBARD

I think you guys mean Browns Plating, Paducah, KY. This is the one thats mentioned in AIM magazine when they do the tech sheet on the bikes. They also list several different ones, just depends on the builder. Hope this helps

Really good chromers are a great resource.  Also getting harder and harder to find.  If any of these sources mentioned are in fact excellent service providers who get things out when promised at acceptable prices please list them here:

Yeah, 'er 'uh, Twolane,
I don't recall ever using anyone but Brown's Plating.  Considering the Winter to be their busiest time, mine was always back by the time the rest of the MODS were done!  I haven't had the need to use them since Oct. of '01, and with Custom Bikes and Chopper Shops on every corner now, I'd say it takes a little longer now.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] Later--HUBBARD

Hub, what with all the EPA restrictions and the demands a busy trade puts on them it's seemed that good chromers are getting harder and harder to find anymore.  Until about five years ago I regularly sent parts from the old cars to a place in Hartford, CT.  Then they got to the point that a promise of "weeks" would always mean "months."  Promised prices would be not even close.  And to top it all off they'd lie to your to face to just avoid dealing with problems.

Have shopped around a few small items with other shops since then.  But yet to find someone that seemed to be just regularly excellent where the chroming was concerned and competent where the business side of things were concerned.  So if anyone does actually have contemporary and good experience with a shop be sure and post them up in the vendor's reference thread.  Thanks!

Well that's why I started the thread. I had found a guy a few years ago here in Dago more or less working out of his garage. What he did was do all the prep himself and then run it across the border to a plating shop in TJ   The work was top shelf and the price unbeatable since the guy didn't have any real overhead. He stopped taking in work awhile back. I never found out exactly why. Back in the day in Maine, I sent everything to Brown's and yes as I remember they were located in Kentucky. I also remember that while they did really great work, it would take on average 3 months. Fine when the whole freakin world is frozen solid from late November to early April, but not cool when you live in SoCal. Anyway, I'm gonna take a run at the place mentioned above in Sacremento with Screamin Beagle on some assorted stuff. Likely to be awhile since the Big Beagle is the most generous bro in the world to his family and friends, but he can't seem to be generous to himself. Never seen anyone have such a hard time spendin money on themself like he does. I mean he's like the opposite of me   [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif] [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif] ;D [smiley=banana.gif] [smiley=jalapeno.gif] [smiley=banana.gif]

Browns in Paduca KY, yep the way to go. Ive had them fix the crap that the MOFOCO put on my Glide and wouldnt fix. Also have their chrome on two other bikes now and numerous others in the past. Check with your local shops, one of them may do business with them and can get you hooked up. If not there is a shop here that ships regular to them. Good luck.

Wow, talking about "bling bling". I had to look closely to try to figure out what model that was. From what I can tell it appears to be a Softail Springer, but the seat, and bags thru me off for a minute.
