Loss of an Old Friend :-(
« on: March 25, 2006, 09:30:29 AM »

Well, 'D' day is here, I thought Id never have to do this, but I sold my 2002 custom built fatboy. Guys coming over to pick it up today. I got a good price for it, I need the room in the garage, will save on insurance, wont have to listen to the wife tell me that I dont need 2 bikes, Plus, old reliable wont have to stay covered to avoid the obvious jealousy that has been evident in my garage since I brought home the The new scooter. Another good thing (I think), is that a good friend of mine bought it, (Im not so sure I will like seing someone else riding her all the time), so I didnt have to advertise, or have some idiot come over and insult me by offerring some rediculous amount that would prompt me to either :
A. Punch him in the mouth,
B. Pull out the shot gun and kindly ask him to 'get off my property
C. Sick my 10year old Attack Golden Retreiver on his azz to lick him to death
D. All of the above.

No matter what I do to justify selling it. I will have a very hard time letting it go today. omg, what have I done? :(

Look at it this way, your old friend will still be close and you can still visit.

Good Luck.

We all have to part with a bike to upgrade to the next.I sold my custom fatboy to get my SERK ,all the countless hours behind the wrench and all the people who would come up and talk to you about the mods youve made. Its tough but we move on.Now take the money you made and dump it into your new scoot as a tribute .Later,Q

Yea, I know, but its like an old girl friend that left you, you would rather see her dead than in the arms of another man that you know. Especially knowing what a great 'ride' she was.

To make myself feel better, Think Ill order the Legend Air Ride. The 1.4 chrome starter is already on the way, found one brand new in the box for $150.00

Man, that's true isn't it? Well said Mike, but she's in good hands we hope. Like losing a member of the family. Now it's time for some serious OCD bling!  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

When I sold my Evo RK to my buddy of 40 years I knew it was going to a good home but I'd put 70,000 miles on that bike with no problems at all so it still hurt

The absolutely worst bit was hearing it drive away off down the road - I'd never heard that sound before :'(

Now it's good because he is real edgy every time I meet him - he worries in case he's not looking after it as well as I did (he is - but I still find fault - just to keep him on his toes

For the same reason you can't have two wives/girlfriends one is going to feel neglected, and get jealous. You start spending more time with one then the other, and then when you do decide to spend time with the one you been neglecting
