Thanks Jim,

Apprecuiate the quick response.  I really like to do a lot of the work myself, but didn't want to do it in the dealer's parking lot! [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]

I hope this setup cools this beast down a bit without making it too loud.   [smiley=nixweiss.gif].

Getting really used to having some jams on the road. [smiley=banana.gif]

I think you'll be happy with both the performance and the sound...the download should only take a few minutes, so no biggie, but I wouldn't run it any long distance before getting it done, as it will be pretty lean.  You're gonna' love the sound, IMO.   [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

I started out like FR8TRN,

I don't need no damn pipes.  Just peace and quiet.  That lasted 3 months.  The toasty legs helped hasten me along, but Goldwing sound just ain't right either.

Guess we are all destined to follow the same path.... [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

I installed the SE Pro mufflers and the "roll your own" AC and took a trip to Tilleys for the download.  WHAT A WAKEUP!

I was in and out in 20 minutes and NOW I have more response on the throttle and the sound is great.  It is a bit louder but I think the sound that it released is worth it.

Thanks for all your input!  Under $500 and its like getting an all new ride!

Ultra...Glad to hear you are happy with the setup...I never rode mine "stock", so had nothing to compare it to, but I'm happy with the way it's running.  Just got back from a trip of over 1100 miles, through the mountains, etc., and couldn't be happier with both the sound and the fuel ecomomy....40MPG two up, and some of it loaded with gear for two.  It sounded just right going through the mountains...at least to my ears.

Hey TCnBham,

Haven't been to the mountains yet but the "tunnel sound" is fantastic!  I sure appreciate your recommendation. When my riding buddy gets back in town he's gonna be surprised.  He said I should have bought a Goldwing because I am too quiet and too slow.

Now I have to work on the slow part! (no, it ain't the 103's fault) [smiley=vrolijk27.gif]

Ultra...yeah, went through a few tunnels this weekend myself  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif].  There were a lot of bikes in the mountains this past weekend.  I just can't do the Goldwing thing...they are great bikes, no doubt about that, but you really cannot hear the motor running on the things.

What has surprised me most about the SEUC is the ease with which it handles...I did a lot of curves on the mountain roads this past weekend...this bike will go where you put it, and will hold a line through a curve.  For an 800+ lb scoot, it has surprised me.

Letting the motor "breathe" with the A/C and Pipes, just makes the riding experience that much more enjoyable, particularly when you can just give her some more throttle halfway through an uphill curve, without having to downshift, and she just keeps on pullin'.  Love that feeling!!! [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]  I did a lot of riding in fourth gear this past weekend....seems to be the ideal gear for the mountains.

Try ordering up 29591-99 and adding it to the top of the filter......this'll move the cover away a bit more and allow you to "tighten" up the bolt instead of bottom it out......the cover will start moving after a while....mine did......but only with the K&N Filter, never moved with the SE Air Filter with the original kit.......that gasket you put on the filter isn't thick enough for our chrome cover.....this is just a thicker gasket that HD sells.

While I did not do the roll your own, I did make use of this gasket on the SE Air Kit.  Before placing the additional gasket on the filter, I tightened everything up and I could feel that there was a "gap" and the cover "wobbled" on the surface of the filter.  (Guess that is why HD says SE Air will not fit with a CUSE Air Cleaner COVER.
I could not see what the amount of gap there was or where it was so, before adding the additional gasket, I placed a few pieces of modeling clay on the top edge of the filter and replaced the cover (warning label on top helps to keep the proper orientatation as it is easy to reverse the cover).  This provided me with the depth of the gap between the filter and the cover.  What I found was, there is contact with the cover and top of the SE Filter on the back half of the filter (additional gasket material is not needed here).  The gap starts midway (top and bottom half of filter) and increases to the maximum gap on the front side of the filter.  This "Maximum" was equal to the thickness of the new gasket.

Consequently, I cut the gasket in half and then carefully cut a tapered slope (with a sharp exacto) from 1/8" on the top and bottom portion of the gasket to the full thickness on the front side (leading edge) of the gasket.  I added a 1/8" thick brass washer to the bolt between the cover and filter as it appeared there was additional pressure on the cover from the bolt when tightening everything down with the gasket in place.

Final result:  The cover did not "wobble" on the filter and no excessive pressure from the bolt on the surface of the cover.  It had equal contact on the top surface of the filter and the cover appeared to me to be much more secure than if I had not used the filter material.  (and I still have the other half of the gasket if I need to replace my "contured version")

Bumping this back up for those '07 owners that may be interested in a "roll your own" air filter upgrade.

Did they change the AC cover on the 07?  Maybe someone back a MOCO figured out that if it is a Scream'n Eagle then maybe they should make it so one can install the SE Air...  Maybe it was Ford that had the better idea slogan...
