Opinions needed on 2010 SESG motor upgrades
« on: January 11, 2011, 11:46:54 PM »

I'm thinking about spending some "MAD" money on the S.G. this winter.
I wanted to get some opinions on how well this combo will work and what kind of H.P. and Tq. I might expect.

Doc, the tuning "guru" at Zepka's HD in Johnstown, Pa did the tune! I thing you know him pretty well if I got my information right!! I'll see if he will fax me a copy. I never asked for one after he showed me on the dyno. I never thought that I would have a need for it since I don't chase numbers. I'll call him.

A nice tool to have when it comes time to sell it, if for no other reason. :2vrolijk_21:

Oh yes I actually worked with Brian Beckley for three years and in the last 5 years I have trained Zepka's 3 times. I just wanted to see if those numbers are in STD correction factor because they are a higher than I see here.

What would a package like that cost?
Do you have any HP&TQ figures for it?

I have two different scenarios of advice and I really don't GAS if I get hammered for either of them. I've proven both to myself in seat of the pants and dyno testing

A) Do what you're talking about above only make sure you find a really good H-D Tech to do the work and also make sure that your head porter knows what you'll be running for cams and throttle body. Everything has to match

B) Call Dave Mackie at Dave Mackie Engineering and let him suggest what he feels you should do to attain what you want. Dave will ask you a bunch of questions about how you ride and what you look for when you say power etc and the suggest a package. That package is likely to cost you around $5k plus the cost of having all the parts he ships you installed. I can assure you though that your Throttle Body, Heads and Cam will be a perfect match for each other. He will also suggest an exhaust system as well as what he feels will work best for you for an ignition system. Bascially put yourself in his hands for an A-Z pkg of parts, find a solid tech to do the install and you'll be a happy camper.

B) Call Dave Mackie at Dave Mackie Engineering

Have also worked with Dave a few times over the years.  It is never a bad experience or a bad outcome.  And he's a good guy to work with and talk to.  Mackie is never a bad choice.
