Thanks for the photos jegomez,
That is the color of my bike and it's very interesting to see what it would look like as a trike. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Here's an article from Chicago Harley Davidson latest e-mail newsletter. News of the H-D/Lehman agreemant to build bikes isn't new any longer but I hadn't seen the aging information before. Maybe they'll offer an AARP discount on the trikes. Pay special attention to the last paragraph I've highlighted.

"Harley-Davidson To Make Trikes"

Harley-Davidson is beefing up its hogs. The motorcycle maker has announced it will begin making three-wheelers, also known as trikes, in partnership with Lehman Trikes U.S.A.

Lehman, based in Spearfish, S.D., just miles from the home of the world-renown Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, already converts motorcycles made by Harley and other manufacturers into trikes, but the new line will be branded as Harley-Davidson and sold through Harley's dealer network.

Milwaukee-based Harley-Davidson Inc. did not release further details about the new bikes or when they would be released. Spokesman Bob Klein said he expected the trikes would be priced similarly to other brands on the market.

The company has made three-wheelers before, such as for police and commercial use, but this venture with Lehman will be different, said H-D spokesperson Bob Klein. Harley is recognizing that more and more riders are interested in riding trikes, which have the look and feel of two-wheeled motorcycles but with a little more stability.

Klein said that while at the popular Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota in August he saw people of all ages and backgrounds riding trikes. "We've observed that trikes are becoming a popular phenomenon and we think that they'll appeal to a variety of customers," Klein said.

Harley's move to trikes will also expand the brand's appeal to an aging market, where according to the Motorcycle Safety Foundation the average rider's age has jumped from an average 28.5 years old in 1985 to 40.2 years old in 2003.

Heh, I resemble that remark. Oh wait, chit, I'm older then that. :'( Does that mean I should have purchased a trike years ago? :(

Only you can answer that one d00d! I'm older than the average too but I really don't feel like I'm ready to do a trike yet. The question remains though - will there be a SE trike? What do you supose the average age is for SE owners?

Hopefully no time soon. I've been riding two-wheels all summer long w/a bum leg, and this will be repaired this winter. So hopefully after that I'll have plenty more life left in me for two-wheels.

:) My wife rides a 2003 Road King Classic Trike that was converted by a Lehman Trike Convertor in Martinsburg, WV.  The Trike was stroked with a 103 kit and of course has reverse....she rides it every where.....I feel a lot safer with her on three wheels than two....every once in a while while no one is looking I get on it and scream around town!!!!!

Trikes are a good vehicle for those who struggle with two wheels, it gets you out in the air!

You have to admit the two trikes posted sure look good.  Someone did a great job on them.  At least we know that in 20 years or so we can still be riding.  (well kind of riding)  I wouldn't mind riding one to see how they steer and handle.

Cheers, Moe
