Very likely not. But he might not have endo-d if he'd had time to stand up off the saddle. When all of him got kicked up and forward he was screwed though. That left a mark.

To me it looks like he must have hit the front brake hard, just before the speed bump, at least I kinda hope there was rider error and the bike didn't just hit a bump and throw him.

Looks like one of those raised crosswalks, designed to slooowww you down in areas of pedestrian traffic.

I feel bad for the cop who went down; I would think most police would be familiar with such dangers in the areas they normally ride. Looks like he was leading a group and lost his focus on his surroundings. I'm sure he'll be okay but will get ribbing the rest of his career including jokes about it at his retirement ceremony.

Actually,, the faster your going the less you feel it.. i agree with others though,, he went toast when he grabbed a hand full of fron brake..

Looks like he lands forward on his helmet, then the rear of his bike hits the side of his helmet rolling him forward onto his helmet, hits helmet again then rolls backward and lands on his helmet.

I counted five impacts to the head.

Im sorry,, i couldn't resist. Had to add this Speed bump incident with a car.. This one is a little funny though and i hope the officer is o.k. on the motorbike incident

HOLY CHIT!!! A handfull of front brake wasn't the right choice there. He should've just braced himself & took the hard hit & that never would of happened.

Distracted riding......it'll get you every time.

Just last week a CHP report found a Sacramento County Sherriff's deputy to be going 107 mph at 1:00 a.m. with no lights or siren when he ran a red light and hit a car (permanent brain damage to the innocent victim). His in car camera showed that he was looking down at his computer as he approached the intersection. Told the CHP officer on the scene that he was only doing 70 mph.

What was so urgent at 1:00 a.m.? Drunk driver? Nope........stollen bicycle report.

Yes, he's still on the force and no suspension. The dept. will not disclose if there was any other disciplinary action because it's a personnel matter.

Many years ago when I had a Road King I run my front wheel off in a sink hole doing about 50mph. Had my feet on the highway pegs. The back end jumped up like that and stood me up putting the windshield against my chest. Next thing I know I'm flopped right back down in the seat!

No damage just scared the chit out of me!!
