F-150 for me. Currently drive a 2010 F-150 XLT 4WD Crew Cab. Great truck, good mileage (about 17.5 mpg) for a full size truck. Mine has the 5.4, if I were trading today I would probably go with the 6.2, it wouldn't have to work as hard as the Eco boost, at least I wouldn't think. I hear the F-150 will be available with a turbo diesel in a couple of years, that might be interesting.

I have owned them all. IMO Chevy was always the most reliable. Toyota is nice and all but not really much of a work truck, IMO. Dodge was horrible. I never had a Ford until a few years ago. Like one other person said when chevy/gm was unwilling to deal I started shopping around. Ford is a tighter suspension, not as smooth as the others in general riding terms because of it's tight suspension but it handles great and has unmatched torque. And as a bike rider you know how important torque is. From the way you have said you would use the truck I think either would be okay for you. I'd go for the best deal and the place you felt most comfortable bringing it for service and warranty work, etc

Got 2007 Tundra. Best vehicle I've ever owned. Plenty of power and rides like a high-dollar sedan. I've looked at trading....but the durn thing is so sweet I can't bring myself to get rid of it.  Just shy of 100 K miles. Never any trouble.

Good luck.

Bought a 2004 F 150, the psycho ex got it in the divorce.

Bought a 2007 Toyota Tundra, still have this wife.

Analogy:  If you want to be single, buy the Ford!!

I've had one since 2011 - zero problems. Any references?
The news, first saw it on Fox news.  By the way, my Evoque has an Ford Echo boost engine, and has had a recall for the exact problems that they are having with the engine in the 150.  In very wet humid conditions, after a hard rain, hit the gas and it goes into restricted power, and speed drops very low.  Happened twice in my Evoque prior to the recall.

This site rocks! I asked and you provided.

I think the consensus is that Ford and Toyota both make good trucks and the bigger engine the better.

Now the big question... Can anybody lend me $40,000 so I can drive one of the new fangled luxury truck thingys?

Can't we just buy a truck for trucks sake?

I did.
2500 HD Chevy w/6.0 4WD Extcab.
A no frills workhorse that will pull anything!
Even as a Ford man, I can say I like this truck.

I'm currently driving a 10 Tundra.  Back in spring of 09 I suddenly needed to replace a pickup and when I went to order a new Chevy as I had done with every truck since 1978, they treated me like chit.  Sure, GM was having some issues and inventories were all screwed up.  But they basically acted as if they had the last trucks GM was ever going to build and I could take it or leave it.  What they did, was stop me from being a repeat purchaser and turned me into a shopper.  All new trucks are sweet, and they are all well built these days.  Well almost all except for one brand.  What I found out was that the Toyota uses the most American labor in production.  And at the time Toyota was really trying to gain market share with the Tundra, so they were willing to deal.  I ended up getting an early 10 Tundra, June of 09.  It's been a good truck.  Being retired, I don't drive it as much as the previous ones.  And it's a little to decked out for me, I'm little hard on the luxury interior.  But it has more power than I can put to the ground, brakes to spare and rides better than my car.

With the above said, what the hell is up with pickups.  I want a pick up, not a 5 ton chassis cab.  Why do they all feel the need to make them look like semi trucks from the front?  The bed sides are so high now that you need a ladder to reach anything in the bed.  I sure hope that the need to get 35 mpg brings the size of pickups back down to something reasonable.
A lot of good points in this one! Among them you pointed out exactly why I stopped using GM vans in our business.

You get what you pay for. Let the japanese make your computers and Iphones. Try to sell a used tundra and F150 same year. See who gets more. Ford is stronger, quieter, and built better. Its Proven, number 1 selling truck of all time and year after year.

Show me a Toyota or Chevy that looks like this to !!!

Since this is a CVO site, I'd assume you would want something similar for your four wheeled transport.  Take a look at the folks who originated the concept that Harley copied when they started CVO (SVO, Special Vehicle Operations, eventually changed to SVT, Special Vehicle Team).  SVT has a nice Raptor truck that would look really good parked next to a CVO.  Over 400 horsepower and torque, excellent off road capabilities, and also has the luxury amenities.
