How so?

It blows the heat from the motor back onto your leg as it reflects off the heads.

They blow hot air onto your right leg.  I've had them 4 years, on 2 bikes, and no matter what anyone says (especially those who don't have them), they do blow onto your leg.  It's wasn't too bad on my SEUC, but it's bad on my SERGU.

Don't get me wrong; I like the fans and they work, but for $70, the Big Sky (or CDA) oil cooler fans provide a lot more engine cooling than the $300 to $400 WPW fans

I've had the fans since they first came out. Best thing I ever did in terms of cooling off the motor. I don't mind the warm air from the fans. It's a lot better then the intense heat that radiates from the motor without them. The EITMS never activates with the fans on. Had them on my trike with the 103 and the 107 motor. Moved them to my 110 CVO Ultra and have not noticed any extra heat blowing on my leg.

I have had them (Wards) for two years on the 09 110 and they do not blow on your right leg, maybe radiate a little back onto your left leg, but not the right one. Look where they mount and what they blow on, How could they blow on the right leg? I also have the lower temp thermostat with the newer electronic switch for activation and TTS tuner with Steve's map, and my legs still get very very hot, but according to my electronic thermo it is from the exhaust mostly. Anybody tried DEI's latest wrap and checked temp being radiated both before and after?

DEI wrapped headers on my street bob lowered the temp 50* on a 240* oil temp 100* day 2 years ago, measured with infrared and point precision meter.

My leg just said thank you that was enough.

Based on all the posts I've read they seem to make enough difference to make folks happy.  I haven't seen anyone griping that they are too expensive for what they do, which is a rarity with most accessories.  Are they as good as having water cooled heads?  I seriously doubt that.  Are they good enough to help reduce the wide fluctuations in head temps found on the typical Harley air cooled engine?  That certainly seems to be the case.

If you meant those small fans weren't likely to make a big difference in the amount of heat on the riders legs, that I totally agree with.  It seems we still have a lot of people who just don't believe that the real culprit is the exhaust system, not the cylinders and heads, when it comes to rider comfort.  The heads normally run at less than 300°F, while the exhaust pipes can run well over 1000°F.

Meet someone with the wards fans, point your fluke ir gun at the head and turn on the fan and watch the temp drop. Or look at their head temp on the powervision drop.

It is a fact those little fans WORK. Period.

Yes they do, my stg 4 117 does not shut rear cyl in traffic anymore , It would take 20 min to do that , remember there are two fans that blow on the head/cylinder  joint,  right where the heat is. Thermostat that come with it works very well

With the PV set to gauges I always monitored head temps. Cruising on the highway my temps were consistently 290* plus. When I got off the highway my temps would drop to 255-265 while stuck in traffic.

Another example would be during Laconia bike week I never had to shut my trike off when stopped in the insane traffic in 90* temps. The engine never hit heat management mode. This is my third year with these fans and they are by far the best mod I have ever made.

Don't let the size of these fans fool ya. Bigger is not always better.

As said- they work. I am in Phoenix and it gets warm here from time to time. Since I put the fans on even I can notice the difference and the rear cly hasn't shut down once. In addition Jason is great guy to do business with!

Had them on my '12 RGC CVO and will now move them to my new RK CVO.  They work and look cool as heck.

They work better than I expected they would.  I didn't expect them to have much effect on oil temp, but it seemed to lower oils temps 10 degrees or so.

The only time comfort is an issue is when you're at a complete stop on a hot day, only because there's more heated air rising from the engine.  With any movement, or even a breeze, you'll feel nothing different with the Ward's fans.

I also put on a Jagg fan assisted oil cooler.  It's made the biggest difference, after new pipes and tune.

Werks well for me but yes I have noticed a little additional heat on my right leg. Nothing terrible but the air that blows from the left side has to exit through the heads and come out the right side. If move too a hi traffic/high heat area then I'll get a fan assisted oil cooler. Might do it anyway just cuz.

I had them on my '12 RGC CVO and move them to the '14 RK CVO.  Install is easy (remove horn, insert spacer to move horn and allow clerance for the fans, install back, route the wires to the battery, and voila!!) and they worked great in the RGC.  With lowers you do feel additional heat in your right leg (I wear jeans or dress slacks and should probably get better riding gear).  But engine just keeps going on those Daytona Bikeweek stop and go traffic days (where I had to shut her down one year because of the heat...before I had the fans).

RK is in break-in miles...still in the honeymoon period.   And since the RK does not have lowers, it all feels nice and cool so far even without the fans...going on a long ride today, I will report back if I even use them since it is just riding along the coast.

I need to get the license of the Power Vision, install the head pipe, and fullsac inserts...

Buy them....you won't be disappointed! They lowered my oil temp about 40 degrees on a 90 degree day and she hasn't gone into safe mode since. They look really cool too!
