Park City to Cripple Creek Loop
« on: June 18, 2006, 01:41:26 AM »

Well I hit the airport in the morning at 6am and off to Salt Lake to grab the SEUC.

Got a trailer ride with some guys doing the Saints to Sinners ride and it was the only way I could get time to make the CC ride.

Plan to make a short ride to Saratoga once I get the bike in the early afternoon and then into CC on Monday.  Hoping to make Rabbit Ears pass into Steamboat on the way down but will have to see if there is time to go that way.  I am told it is a beautiful drop into the valley coming off the pass.

That's an incredable ride!  I went through there  last year.

Pam and I did Rabbit ears Pass a couple of years ago on the way home from the Blue Ridge Parkway.  It was in early Sept and it was a great ride.  We overnighted in Steamboat Springs and it was in the 30's when we left the following morning.

We're here, met Canuck Kerry with wife Sue and Geezerglide Leo in Rock Springs at the HD store.  BBQ there and the folks were great.

Went on to Saratoga and spent the night at the Wolf Hotel.

The ride south was awesome' missed some of the plan as we worked our way toward Clearview Shields for Leo's  new shield for his roadglide' turned out it will be done Wed.

South on CO67 was a great ride.  Weather is in the 90's and so have we been sometimes. Made really good time getting here.

Got to CC around four and spent the day watching everyone arrive.

The Double Eagle is very nice with covered parking and full of Screamin Eagles.

Met lots, Seultro, AK, Big Al, MrMagoo and wife and many more.....woohoo we ride in 3 hours.

Thanks for the update, Rjob.  We haven't heard from anyone for awhile.  Some pics would be cool if you can manage it.

Take care and ride safe!

Is anybody else here getting the feeling that all the kids in your neighborhood have gone off to summer camp and your stuck at home all alone. :(

As Brian said some pictures sure would be nice for us kids stuck at home and not enjoying summer camp (CVO Western Gathering '06) with you. ;D

BTW - I noticed the host hotel has a street cam and I've been checking periodically to see if I see the invasion of the "CVO's". [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

The street cam is neat!

They need to find it, park all the bikes at a time we all know about and we can see all of them.

Dood....definitely getting that feeling, bro....we'll just have to make sure that next year, we're there!!!  Of course, those who don't go to MV will feel the same way in October  ;)

Hopefully, somebody had room for their laptop and can let us know what a great time they're all having, post some pics, then we can really turn green with envy   [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

I know they're all having a blast in the mountains, and I hope everyone enjoys the sights and sounds of Colorado, and most of all, everybody is safe and sound. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Hey, that would be cool!!!   Rome has a live street-cam and I never thought of that.  I might have to set up my recorder and go zip down Broad Street a few times!!!  Where's the cam at?  I'll call JC and tell him about it!!!   Live Broadcast of CVO's...what an idea!

Schools out here for sure.

Great idea for a street cam shot.

Sorry on the pics working from my phone, promise you will get lots of pics and of great scenary with lots of SE bikes.

First stop for gas today brought out the Chief of police, his Capt and the only motor officer on his HD Police Cruiser...yes d00d we got pics.

Royal Gorge and Skyline were on the route and many of us crossed the bridge.

The group rode well together and the ride was great with most electing the long ride.

Mountain ride tomorrow, Breckenridge is in tomorrowa schedule.  Pikes Peak on Thursday individual rides.

We got  oue first half CVO ride pins, thanks to Don-Twolane.

Big thanks to the guys that set the routes and stops...Seultra and Bret et al.

More tomorrow and I'll see if SanJoseduke can help me post pics as he brought a lap top.  He and his wife are on a five week ride.

Unfortunately he had a mefhanical problem.  NOW ON STD Ultra maxed out at 58 mph uphill into the wind on way from dlr to CC today, hope to now prognosis on repair tomorrow.

Oh, wish you were here!

Another great day on Wed.  We headed out at 7:30 to get gas and hear about the ride.

Most of us went long again and other than a short rain shower all went well.

We headed to Breckenridge up north, we rode over Loveland Pass 11,200 ft.  then down to Breckenridge for fuel and a break.  The Red Bull Mini Cooper showed up with samples for all.

Then it was onto a park near the entrance to Mt Evans.  It is the highest paved road in the US.  14,250 ft and many of us made the ride.  Bret ans Nikki had 6ft subs there delivered by Nikki's daughter.

After lunch we headed out and with some confusion we ended up in a couple groups.  One rode the planned route and another made awrong turn which added 50 miles of mostly interstate travel.  In the end everyone met up near CC on the road and headed in.  Pizza was the order of the day for dinner.

Thurs. will be on our own with some doing Pikes Peak.  Weather is suspect but an adventure for those who go.  I am heading north to get back to Park City by noon Friday.

If you are looking for some pix, Naitram told me he posted his in the gallery last night.

It has been great to meet everyone here, oh, SanJosedukes motor may be back in his bike today and with the rain and runs back and forth to Pikes Peak HD, he traded the Ultra loaner for a cage.  After he gets the SEUC back he is headed north with Canuck into Canada.

Group gets daily ride info at morning fueling.
