2007 HOG Posse Ride
« on: November 04, 2006, 05:14:40 PM »

I know it's little early, but is anyone but me considering going on the HOG Posse ride?  Anyone been on one of these?  What was your experience?

Isn't the Posse ride to the west coast happening the same week that the Nelson ride is going on? If you do it Pete have a great time. For Kathy and I we can't stand to ride in such a large group for such a long time.

Hola Hogasm.....you don't have to ride with a large group....as matter as fact it's impossible to ride ALL together. You go from city A to city B alone or with you want to ride.....and when you get the city B you share with your fellow riders....

Ride hard but ride safe....

That's not so bad then. I had always wondered if the Posse ride was done like the Kyle Petty Victory Junction Ride. In that ride everyone rides together. It is easier mentally to ride at your own pace than to have to ride in a pack.

I like to ride 3-5 in a group.  MV was an exception, but I stayed up front with Brian (103THunDer) and Roy (Reo) where we were mostly by ourselves.  If you and Kathy are considering the ride, let me know.

Pete, we are going to Nelson,BC. Plenty of time for planning, we want to ride out ond back, but dont know if we will have enough time to ride both ways. Like I said, plenty of time to plan before then.

Been away from the computer since Friday - driving to NC to get my new Jester, heh, heh.  Got her home and in a nice warm, dry (it is raining today, bummer) garage.  Anyway as Jorge said, J. Carolyn and I did the complete 48-state Posse rides in '04 & '05.  The Posse rides are just great -you ride when you want to, with whom you want to and at whatever pace you want to.  Best thing is you meet up a lot during the day at gas stops, restaurants, etc., with other riders and of course in the evening you sit around the bar a swap stories.  It is a awesome adventure and we met lots of wonderful folks.  Some have been on all the Posse rides and it is kind of like a little fraternity.

BTW Jorge, you don't need to stay up late to register.  After the '04 debacle they changed the registration to start at 8 am central time.  I voiced this concern to Joe Dowd and others that the moco is an American company (no offense to our wonderful brothers & sisters across the ponds, but most Posse riders are Americans) and should have registration open during our business hours when customer service personnel are available.  I'm sure hundreds of others voiced this concern also.

I hate it that the Posse Ride conflicts with the CVO rally in Nelson but I gotta keep up the tradition and go with the Posse. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

We hate that too.   It is so hard to make choices.  We all have work, home, family, friends, HOG riders, CVO riders, our church brothers and sisters and other groups we spend our time with that all want to share our time with them.  It is hard to make choices.

We committed to Nelson some time ago, have already started making our plans, have got brother on board to join us and will stop by and say hello in person to my Dad on our way to Nelson, so it was a no brainer as to which event we would go to, but Jerry, you will be joining some other great CVO riders from this site and with your wonderful trip reports, I expect we will all get to share each other's experiences of both events.   ;)
