This is about the third revision and I'm hoping it'll be the last. Will take for a short spin after dinner to test this one out. Screen is cut to fit with some channel door trim to hold it against the top. I may have to tweak the fitment some. It should help keep the bugs and tiny pebbles from nailing me in the forehead. Just some perforated aluminum I picked up online. Guys have used stuff from their local hardware stores also or even gutter guard screen.

Out of curiosity, why did you choose to place the screen at the back side of the vent versus the front by the headlamp? Seems to me you will still get bug juice spray, albeit the big chunks will be filtered out. Also, it will be more difficult to clean the bug remains, likely requiring you to remove this vent at each major wash.

Ease of installation. The bottom of the screen goes in that little slot between the fairings and the top is just "jammed" against the top of the vent and held in by the black trim piece. No way that I can think of to put it on the front end of the vent.

After a few hours last night of making a template out of card stock and cutting and trimming the screen for a tight fit, I think I have a winner. Just need to take it out and make a good template for anyone that wants a copy and to paint it black.

So far, Over 2 years and nothing has come thru the vent on mine except air which I greatly appreciate. Not sure where you guys ride but I feel sorry for you.

That looks interesting. My latest attempt failed again. LOL. I tried to use just about a 1/2" of 3M emblem tape at the top to hold it in place and that lasted until the first good bump doing 80 mph on the way to ES a few weeks back. That latest prototype is laying along I-77 just south of Canton somewhere. I may go back to my original design but that was a pain to deal with when you wanted to clean the mail slot.

Replacing the radio's factory protective film with an anti-reflective film from NuShield worked for me Stuart, as well as for a number of other forum members. Additionally I use a small shading hood which helps. That being said, nothing helps when the sun is low and to the rear of you ........the MOCO should have angled the screen downward just enough to eliminate the bright atmospheric reflections.

And it's good to be lucky KG :P! The same wasps, etc. your side vent screens "murdered";) could also have visited your head & upper torso via the center vent .........and in a "bad mood" >:( LOL! I've been nailed thru the center vent by wasps (and assorted road debris) enough times to motivate a center vent screen solution (ever priced an EPI-PEN?). My three major encounters with wasps occurred while touring ....with the last sting producing some scary chest tightness symptoms. Turned out I am one of those folks allergic to stings .........but not everyone is. However I suppose your exposure would also depend on your typical riding style (touring vs bar hops), mileage, time of year, luck and Geographic's.

Mike ........my screen supplier also has what appears to be the same circular perforated screen type you were using. As that style screen allows only 48% of air through you can imagine the pressure on it at 80 mph .......small wonder it flew off LOL :o! That's one of the reasons I use the 1/4" honeycomb screen which allows 77% through :).

I need to get something like this for my SG's mail slot. Not for bugs or rocks but for the barrage of shells, pistachio shells to be exact that seem to be kicked up whenever doing a CVO GTG group ride.
