Yes, Stem Cell Transplant.  Diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, Stage III last December.  Started Chemo in January.  In July my cancer was down enough for a Stem Cell Transplant, but COVID would not allow it.  Finally in November I could go to Houston to have it done.  Started the process Nov 4th.  Got cleared to go home on Dec 11th.

Yea, its pretty serious.  While in patient for transplant, second best nurse to patient ratio there is, only ICU has a better ratio.  Chemo does there before transplant was extremely hi.  Once it killed all my white blood cells, all my plasma and such, I got the stem cells transplanted to rebuild my blood.

Hopefully my cancer will be in remission for 12 plus years.  I'll be on a maintenance Chemo the rest of my life.

Other than the two months at MD Anderson it has not slowed me down, first ten months, while doing chemo I rode 28,000 miles.
my wife had cancer and doing anything during chemo is quite a accomplishment. riding 28000 miles makes you supermanish!!

Dave.. I always thought that you were tough.  Now I'm super impressed. Most important is that you stay well.  Crossing fingers hoping you can stay cancer free.  Keep on riding.    Stuart  :2vrolijk_21:

Thank you all.  I do appreciate it!

I'm not really all that tough.  I am fortunate that the chemo had minimal side effects on me for the first ten months.  The biggest was I lost energy and got tired easier.  My wife said my fatigue made me more like a normal person as I was the energizer bunny before.  I rode to chemo most days the  a nice 100 mile ride after to clear my head and forget about my cancer.

Yes, MD Anderson is constantly rated in top three Cancer centers in the USA for the past 10 plus years, which is why I chose them.  I wanted the best care possible.  I fully believe I got just that while there for two months.  My Oncologist there has only treated Multiple Myeloma for the last 13 years.

The Chemo I received there was Hell.  Kept me inpatient 2 weeks, for many it's more like 3 weeks.

I'm on the road to recovery, getting strength back and the weight I lost back.  I have been determined to not let this slow me down, or keep me from living my life to the fullest.  I have had a good attitude though out it, and pretty much lived like I had nothing unusual going on health wise.

Picked up new tags for the CVO King yesterday.  Raining like heck now, so I will put the tags on her today.

Fixed my Air Ride, pressure  switch went bad. Installed new Windvest, weirdly enough it was cold and it barely got bumped backing it in her garage and sheared off!

A great attitude will help you get through this Dave. You play it down some and I would probably try to do the same.  But we know that it's no easy task and some days can be very hard. Glad you get to ride your issues away. Keep your good attitude and you can get through this.   Stuart.

Dave, may the Lord continue to heal you during this time.  You know I'm just down the road so if there is EVER anything you need, I'm there, brother.

Took the 13 CVO King out to pick up a prescription yesterday that turned into a nice 140 mile ride.  I'll ride her again today as I have a couple errands to run, then go to SMHD to log her miles for Ride 365 and meet a Friend so I should get about 130 or so miles again today.

Does anyone know PMCS?

If you've ever served, then you are very aware of preventative maintenance checks and services.

Since retiring in 2004, I firmly believe in fixing it before it breaks, which can easily ruin a good day or vacation trip.

I keep up on the chatter boxes for common problems and add them to my PMCS.

I bought my 2014 FLHTKSE CVO with 3k miles, and over a scheduled period, I replaced everything in the cam chest with top end hardware. New d&d 2-1 headers with a single fatcat. Oh, the ecm had to go too, installed a Thundermax.

So, I buy slightly used, fix all of the chatterbox issues for a powerhouse worry free beast at 46k miles now.

As a Harley Davidson certified YouTube engineer doing all of my own work, I will continue to this proven practice of PMCS until I run out of bandwidth.
