Just left my local Harley Shop, the very same ones who sold me my springer. They had a 2010 SEST with about 4500 miles and asking price was $32,250. I toyed with trading my bike in, but quickly changed my mind when they offered $13,800 for my bike. I was told that the springers were bringing 14,000 at auction. What is even crazier to me is that they have an 06 SE Fat Boy on the floor for 19,000. I have purchased 4 bikes from this very same dealership, it is very safe to assume hat number 4 was the last.

yea that's slightly insulting... but not suprising.  Typical that they want to get trade in's for next to nothing, its just too bad that its the dealer you bought yours from you'd hope for a fair handshake for repeat business.  I guess those days are gone, all about the mighty buck.

Trading your Bike at the Harley Dealership is like going through the Drive Through.......You know what your going to get every time. Sell it your self and then go buy one and low ball the hell out of them. Dealerships have NO Loyalty.......I had the same thing happen to me a few years ago when I was thinking about getting a new Roadking....

i dont know how you can feel insulted, just think for a minute, when you were sold the bike yu would have assumed he has made a profit,,,,,, eg about 20%, so take that at least off the bike , also for depreciation , then think if you were buying it second hand , what would you expect to pay , you would want a hefty discount from the new price otherwise what is the sense in buying it, the dealer then has to make a profit , again about 20% to cover holding costs , wages , power , security and he has to then warranty the used bike,
try trading in a car you wouldnt even get close to the percentage that you do on a bike, when i bought the 2011 convertible , at about $43,000 the dealer offered me $ 13000 on my softail custom with 100,000 km on it , i chose to keep it as the going price on a private sale would be around $17-18000 not bad for a 16 yo bike that in 1995 cost me $25000

We took a 2009 Road Glide in on trade at the car dealership.  I know the bikes so I offered the guy $15,000.00 and gave him a good deal on a Z4 convertible in November!  I called the local HD dealer to see if they were interested in the bike at $15,000.00 and they offered me $12,500.00...  ...this bike only had 900 miles on it and it was the right color!  I offered it here for $16,000.00 but it got kicked, and sold it on ebay in 3 days for $17,500.00  These guys are idiots!  It's not like they can lease new bikes or something?  New bikes are collecting dust, used bikes like used cars are selling like hot cakes!  Put your bike on e-bay and then go low ball the dealer and stick it up their A##.  We are honest with people, they need to educate the customer and tell them why, or that their just not interested in the bike???

I bought mine on EBAY for 13K... Stealership offered me $18K cause we don't see many like yours up here.
