15 RGU, 39K miles. Sometimes it clunks and sometimes it doesn't.  :nixweiss:

2020 cvo limited noisy clunk, my 2016 was nice and quiet going into 1st.  I have used the stock harley fluids that came in it, Amsoil and Red Line, still makes a clunk.

I have the redline on standby.haven’t in the other holes, just want to make sure it’s doesn’t transfer
From transmission. Hopefully it doesn’t.  embarrasses me in the morning I think the whole neighborhood can hear, it sounds like it’s falling apart.

Since installing the RedLine pink stuff my first gear clunk sometimes goes away completely and other times not, kind of weird, but better overall.  I would recommend it

Total speculation on my part but seems that the clunk has more to do with the clutch drag than the tranny itself. I have went from the stock 6 speed to the Baker 7 speed and any time I clutch drag the clunk will usually be there

Do you ever feel your bike having a forward pull to it while sitting in gear? That is residential friction in the clutch even though the lever is pulled in. Don't have a clue how to fix it. Yes Baker has made an aftermarket 7 speed for a few years

If you haven't done it yet make sure you guys flush your clutch master cylinder and lines and replace with fresh fluid. It helped on my 2011.

Maybe air in line? I was starting it in gear , but feel it pulled a little and decided that wasn’t a good  idea.almost 10,000 miles I’m going to change primary. Hope that helps.

Bike cold.
Pull your derby cover, bike upright, and check your oil level. It should be at the bottom of the clutch plate.
Take out the trans dip stick and check for proper level.
If you had oil transfer from the trans to the primary (common problem with your year) get that taken care of.

If everything is set, start the bike in neutral and if you have a big clunk into low you may have to try a different primary fluid. I use the stock Harley fluid that works ok when cold and shifts pretty good when hot, but I’m using Lucas gear oil in the trans.
They all clunk some worse than others.
Why can’t Harley build a transmission like my Baker? Smooth all the way!
Hope this helps.

My primary fluid seem to be overfilled when I was draining fluids but I forgot to check the trans level. I’m thinking this is my whole problem. Thanks all for your help.

Mike even with my Baker I still get a clunk from time to time. Mainly cold, but I also know clutch has always had a little drag in this bike. I had hoped swapping to the alto clutch and ATF would have solved it but didn't. Changed fluid and rebuild clutch slave earlier this year with little to no change. I have about decided to just agree with the stealers on this one and claim they all do that!

One other thing I noticed on a friends bike (2012) his shift linkage was way sloppy. We replaced the shift levers and tightened everything up. He uses regular Walmart motor oil in all 3 holes and says his shifter still clunks, but much better than before.
Yes, they all do that to some extent. 8)
