2020 Apple Play
« on: June 11, 2022, 01:52:13 PM »

I do not use a headset, and have a 2020 Street Glide I would like to use Car Play.  I bought a crossover plugin and opened up the fairing, but interior looks nothing like the youtube how to's to get it connected.  In fact I don't have a connecter that would receive the crossover connecter I purchased.  Any ideas on how to get Car Play to come up when I connect my iPhone via the USB in the cubby?

Look it up n YouTube like we did.
Use the gray connector not the black one. The jumper plug will only fit the gray receiver.
We just tried it on the 2022 Streetglide and it works fine over the speakers, not the headset.

Thanks Mike!  You are correct - there is a black and a gray connector.   Only the black is available - the gray connector is plugged in to something and I can't trace the wires to where - maybe to the module that controls helmet mic???  Will unplug it in the morning and plug the crossover into it and see if anything get's screwed up....

If the gray connector has something plugged into it it’s probably the WHIM setup for the HD Sena wireless headsets.

Is this bike a CVO from the factory? If so the CarPlay will work with or without the headset.

It is stock CVO from the dealership.  I picked yet up a few weeks ago with 400miles on it.  I did a download and update of the software today thats all.  Even with that update to M22.21.28.00 I cannot get CarPlay to launch without headset.  I am charging the headset right now to see if it will work with that.  Failing that, I suspected the gray connector may be connected to the WHIM and since I don't plan on using it at all, will unplug it and put the crossover in its place.

Confirmed:  Paired up the Boom headset and car play fired right up.  Turned the headset off and screen reverted back to regular HD screen.

👍

Unplug the WHIM from the gray connector, insert the jumper you have and I’ll bet CarPlay will come up in 30 seconds or less.
You don’t use your headset and you will need to set your audio routing to speakers not headset.

You are one of the lucky ones. From what I understand there is no box to uncheck the Mic anymore with Digiteck at the dealer level. So do not do any Harley updates on your head unit or you could lose that feature.

To circumvent this and keep your WHIM and head unit working with Carplay for those rare occasions that you choose to use it with your helmet and mic AND be able to use Carplay without your full face helmet and mic like me you can just carry the Sena unit, turned on, in your pocket or on the bike and your Carplay will work fine, just remember to keep it charged up.

I did have the dealer uncheck the box, if you're talking software updates for the radio, I have done them and it still works, I believe if the BCM ever got replaced then I think it wouldn't work after that
