Buy what you want, I always took them off my earlier bikes because I do not like the looks of them, and if you drop it... I'll worry about that then. But if you like them, that is what matters, bike is yours.

they didn't protect my bag one bit when I dropped my 02 Ultra. Ruined both the saddlebag and saddlebag guard.  Would have just cost me the price of the saddlebag instead of the bag and guard, if I wouldn't have had them on.  They don't do anything for me looks-wise anyway, prefer not having them.... :nixweiss:

i really don't care for the "look" either and I don't have them. I do remember taking them off my 03 Classic too. But that's what makes the world go round. Some do- some don't. If anything should happen,  it's nice to know they are there.
