Saddlebag Lid Speakers
« on: March 13, 2012, 12:08:09 AM »

Quick Question....

How do you gain access to the speakers in the lids on the 2012 SG?  Remove the speaker grill?  Or go at it from inside the lid 1st?

I have a decent leak in the right bag and need to find it.  Not sure if the dealer will fix or replace but I know the manual says these bags are supposed to be water tight, and if that's the case I would imagine the dealer should correct the problem under warranty, yeah?

Thanks!

To gain access first remove 4 screws holding grill from inside lid, then you can access the four screws on the top side of lid that hold speakers in place.
Don't over tighten them, torque to specs.

I had to remove grill on the left side after I noticed a screw in the centre of the speaker cone only to find all screws were not torqued up when I removed the grill, they were just sitting there. On the opposite side a rubber washer was resting beside the speaker so I pulled the speaker off to investigate and found where the washer came from.
Sloppy workman ship again! >:(

Awesome.  Thanks Brother!  That's a lot easier than I thought it was gonna be!  You wouldn't happen to know the torque specs would ya?

And Yeah, I am finding a lack of attention to detail almost daily.  Its a bunch of little things but aggravating none the less...considering the money we pay for these bikes.

Speaker and Grills: 10-15 in-lbs (1.1-1.7 Nm)

Make sure you check that rubber spacer washers (x 4) are in pocket where grill mounts fit.
