Well guys I sold my 2010 CVO Street Glide and made a hefty deposit on  2012 CVO Street Glide--the first Black and Gray that the dealer gets.

FWIW: The dealer is a sizeable one and won't receive any CVO Street Glides until early October.  Of course that could change quickly.

So to my knowledge I'm number 1 for a 2012. Who's next?

Congratulations!

I was at my local dealer today when they opened to see about getting my hands on one of the slate/black ones as well.  They have a red one scheduled for September, but no slate/black ones on the schedule at this point.

We went on the dealer locater and there were a couple dozen states showing dealers with the slate/black one in stock.  However, none in NH or VT yet.  :(

Always nice to be No. 1!  I was wondering who'd be first to announce their new CVO.  Ordered my Yellow SERG, July 16, '08 and got it October 4.  It was a long wait!  Good luck.

+1 for a hot citrus. I'm not sure I'll actually pull the trigger but I do want the chance. My dealer doesn't even know whatthey are getting yet.

Just curious, do most of the dealers still require you to put down a deposit on a bike that they don't know when they are going to get?  It doesn't really seem fair for the dealer to make intrest on your money for 6 to 8 months when you could be.

Yes...if you want it. You just have to put it in writting on condition of colour and price....that's what i did on July 27, 2010 two hours after i seen a picture of the black diamond/crimson tag when i wanted my 2011 CVOSG. I believe i was #1 in Canada at that time. :huepfenjump3:

Congrats CVOSTREETGLIDE.....you got the best colour for 2012. :2vrolijk_21:

They can have the interest!  Realistically, they're getting 1-2% interest and on $500 down payment - that's a whopping $1.25 - $2.50 for a 3 month wait.

That's just my two cents...plus a $1.25 or so.   :2vrolijk_21:

I was just wondering because I just told the salesguy I wanted the first Kryptonite SESG they got in no deposit required.  And considering it was 8 months before they got one in, its just as well.   :cucumber:

I know there was a time when deposits were necessary for dealers.  I was just thinking maybe that time had passed.

Man I hope my inventments are doing better than 1-2% or I'm never going to get to retire.   :huepfenlol2:

Like most things dealer/MOCO related, it depends on your relationship with your dealer.  I've never had to leave a deposit to get my name on a bike.  But I know some that have had to leave a deposit at the same dealership...

Over the years in my experience  a sizeable deposit says you are serious in going through with the deal. You also get a sales invoice indicating the total amount of the deal and what the balance due is. That is important these days when people come and go. You word on what your deal was/is a month or so from now won't guarantee you'll get the same deal.

I am curious how you keep the water out or remove it from the saddle bag speakers.

If I get any new information because I am a customer in waiting I'll post it for the group.

It was just a few years ago that a number of members would already have put down a deposit by a day or two after the dealers meeting.  Now it's more of a rarity. :nixweiss:

My local dealer wanted a deposit, but not much, only $200.  They said they needed it to do the sales agreement paperwork.  Which as others have said, at least gets on paper with a signature, what the agreed upon deal is.

And that was a very good thing in my case as the sales manager I had my deal with left suddenly.  :o

I am now working with a new sales manager that had no idea what the old manager had agreed to do, but since it was in writing is going to honor it.  Which is giving me full retail price on my trade since I bought my 1st CVO from them and do all my service with them.  No other dealer around here would agree to that on a CVO, they said they are just too easy to sell.  And as everyone knows, there is a huge difference between retail and trade on a bike.

I've always just put $100 down and got my purchase agreement (contract).  My understanding is once you've put a deposit down and have your purchase agreement, they're obligated by law to produce! :2vrolijk_21:

That may be true for most bikes, but being we are talking about CVOs which are a limited run and cannot be ordered that is not really the case.  If you read the fine print on the back of the contract it says the dealer is only under obligation to honor the contract if they can acquire the bike from the manufacturer.  If they cannot, they can at their discretion, offer to honor the contract with the following model year for the difference in list price if applicable.  And in the case of the CVOs, if they offer the same model the following year.

My dealer is doing just that for me.  I had a contract for a 2011 black/crimson SG and they were unable to find me one.  So when I found out they were coming out with them again in 2012 I asked if they would honor the deal for a 2012 and they said they would.  So they are now trying to get me a 2012 slate/black SG for the same deal + the $200 increase in list price.

When we looked yesterday morning on the dealer locater none had been delivered to VT or NH yet.  Hopefully soon, and hopefully they can get one if they do not get one sent to them.

Are the contracts different in California? :nixweiss:

Not sure if HD has a standard contract they use in every state or if they are state dependant.  I have only seen the ones in NH.  All I know is I read mine very carefully from top to bottom, and front to back, when my dealer said they could not locate the bike I wanted.  I wanted to know just what they did or did not have to honor and what they could hold me to as far as my deposit if I decided to go to another dealer to find one.  And the dealers, here in NH at least, have an out if they cannot get the bike from the factory.

I'm curious, when I was looking at the features on the HD web site, I didn't see any reference to a CVO KEY OR COVER.  Another cost savings measure??

Also, CVO Sales brochures weren't available at the dealer.....yet.

FWIW: I'm thinking there is going to be some serious price compression on the 2011 and 2010 CVO Street Glides and The Road Glides as the 2012 prices rollout to more and more of the buying public.

I saw a 2012 SESG in black today in Kansas city. They turned on the stereo. it sounds like a home stereo. Its really cool how they just use the lids to house the speakers and amp. They leave the bag empty for storage. It still has the Ipod interface too. It Rocks, even louder than last years model. It will be worth the wait.

The amp mounts in the lid as well?

JC.  Whaddaya think?   A new SG in the plans for you?  How can you resist 200 watts? :nixweiss:

According to everything that I have read, It's 400 watts...200w amp in the fairing and 200w in the saddlebags.

How about a shot inside the saddlebag of the amp set up? Is there some sort of drainage system for the lid speakers? And a pic out in the sun from the side.

Left rear of saddle bag

Right saddle bag lid has the Ipod adapter in it.
The other amp is still on top of the radio, like last years.
Will work on the sun photos, not very sunny today.

Sorry, no drain for the rear speaker. It looks like they should be good places for standing water till you open the bags and drain them out

The amp takes up alot less room than I thought it would. That's what I thought about the speaker drainage.  I am likeing this model more and more. Congrats

On the HD website when they show the security system feature with the key fob, it shows a pic of the Ultra fob with the lock/unlock buttons on the key. Does the new SESG now have power locking saddlebags??

Led light I added. The chrome strips are to protect/decorate the rear fender depending on if the passenger seat is on.

No, same fob as last year, no power locks. But with the new saddle bag wiring connectors, I bet they could be added.

Ipod adapter

Can you answer my curiousity questions about your 2012 CVO Street Glide?

1. Did it come with a CVO KEY this year?

2. Did it come with a CVO Cover?

Looks good. I hope mine shows up soon.

leak at the clutch master on the bars and at the trans??

Both, The clutch slave is the one on the transmission. That leaked on my 100 mile ride home. Blew the black cover off the bleeder.  leaked all over the transmission cover.
The master on the bars leaked after sitting in my garage. All over the paint, motor, and floor boards.
The paint held up very well. Noticed a blister in the paint on the jug.

Are both colors metallic?

Sounds like the bleeder was just loose if the black cover got blown off.....not sure if checking that is in the pre delivery insp. done by the dealer.

Thanks for answering my questions.

BTW my dealer thought that HD hadn't released this color yet.

Please be sure to get a detailed written service ticket on your leak. That way if any parts start showing corrosion in the future you won't have to argue over getting replaced.

Yep Bleeder was loose and so was the Master cylinder cap. The Speaker plug in was hidden up inside the fairing. So other then the switch and the fuel tank trim, it's all good.
Guess the people that build Harley are human after all  ;)

Yea that brake fuild is Really caustic!! So be sure they list all of the parts it got on so you can just produce the service invoice and have them replace whatever reacted to it a month, or year later.

Boy I sure wouldn't want them taking my motor apart to replace a cylinder jug because of a brake fluid leak....

I am looking forward to seeing the bike first hand.  I agree that it is the absolute best color.  The rest are period dated and a few years from now may not be appealing to a buyer.

What's your assessment of the fit and finish quality?

I am hoping you only paid MSRP.

Also, did your dealer have a "dealer service fee"? Not the service/set up fee.

I too have my Reinharts ready to go on this bike. I assume no ECM change was needed. It wasn't on my 2010.

BTW Can you shed some light on how any water from rain or washing the bike gets out of the saddlebag speakers?

Regards

Jerry

Congrats!!!  I love the bike!  I am making my deposit as soon as the ENCS gets them on the stock system for my military discount.  I cancelled my deposit on my 2011 when I extended so I am very happy they brought out another Black bike:)  Please PM if you are willing to email me some close up pics.  I wont be home until stateside until Jan and would love to see some close ups of the paint details.

Regards

Jerry

As far as cost goes, I traded two bike for this one. On the contract it actually showed a discount on the CVO. The only reason the contract showed a discount was to keep the cost they were putting in my trades down. The dealer I got it from didn't even charge me freight and setup. (that's the best part of buying more then one bike from the same dealer) It helps to have some dealer loyalty if you want a better price.

Fit and finish is overall good. There are a few things that seem acceptable in the world of Harley, that me as a sport bike rider cringe at, but seem to be common place. The only things that are irksome are the back piece of plastic on the driver seat, and the misaligned CVO plate on the fuel tank. I will take photos later.

I plan on doing a head pipe and already ordered my Power Vision to flash my ecu. It doesn't run bad with the Rineharts now, but I want the flamethrower on my right leg to go away.
As far as rain, looks like you just tip the saddlebag lids open and it should all run out. That looks like the only way. I worry that it leaks into the saddle bag more then how to drain it out

Thanks for sharing!!   I am hoping to see a ship date soon....real soon.

Be sure to look at TTS Mastertune for your heat problem. Another good solution.

It looks like Harley is following the same route they did in 2009 when they starting shipping the CVO's then.. Down I-75 to South Florida dropping goodies off all rhe waydown. Then a fan out from there.

CVOStreetglide, when you say you hope to see a ship date real soon, does that mean your dealer knows they are getting one, just not sure when?

My local dealer says he cannot look any further out than September.  Is that true of all dealers?  I thought someone said their dealer showed one coming in October.  Just wondering how much my dealer is telling me is true, and how much is salesmen being salesmen.  :nixweiss:

Mine has one out in October, improved to September possibly improved further. Many dealers will trade with each other too but both have to agree. It's not like cars where if the car is in inventory at a dealer and isn't sold it can be found on the dealer locator system and transferred to a selling dealer.

I found my own deal in 2010 and went and got it. I ay do it again.

Almost had one today. But there was some paint issues from the factory.  Of course they would fix it but we couldn't find out how long it would take to get new parts.

Keep your eye out.

I would be interested in finding out what others experience for a purchase price for the 2012 Streetglides.  I'm just curious if they are going for around MSRP or at a premium.  Please feel free to share.   ;D

And they wanted what 5K over MSRP ?  I have found them and there sister store Earl Smalls to be the biggest rip-off dealers on CVO's around.

So far all my deals are MSRP. I will say all the bikes I have turned down (all black) have sold with three days.  The deal  I took is minus the dock set up etc which makes it about $500 to $800 less. Friend of owner made a phone call and removed all that stuff. The two have a business partnership in the tire business plus my friend buys one to two CVO (along with three of his friends) from the dealer every year. One of the guys trades every time he needs a back tire. Got money running out his tail. Million dollar boat, three Harleys at all times etc. His best and most expensive  toy is his trophy wife! We all enjoy looking at the money he has spent on her. HA Ha!

Except for Naples, Florida $40k plus OTD. MSRP was my experience as well.

The dealers are figuring out that the current economy is going to negatively impact the limited pool of qualified CVO buyers. They don't want their inventory to sit very long especially if they are floor planning their inventory. The interest cost will quickly erode any profit to be had.

So it's a buyers market if you have cash or good credit.  Nice!!

I don't think that too many dealers are asking more than msrp these days.   They should be happy in times like these that there are some willing to shell out 35-40k on such a luxury. They ought to be very grateful when they see one rolling out the door.  Anyone willing to pay more isn't negotiating hard enough.   jMO.

Was told by the dealership today that there are no more 2012 CVO SG available for the UK. Guildford HD has sold four in total I believe.
