Garmin Zumo...made for motorcycles!
« on: July 21, 2006, 08:08:47 AM »

Due in October:

http://www.garmin.com/zumo/

http://www.garmin.com/products/zumo/

Glove-friendly touch screen with left-handed controls makes it easy to operate
High bright sunlight-readable, UV-resistant display makes it easy to view your screen
Motorcycle console for trip information, including fuel gauge *** to warn you when its time to fill up
Motorcycle mount with universal mounting hardware so you can mount it anywhere
Included motorcycle mount and automotive mount (with integrated speaker) for riding or driving
Custom caps, available in a variety of colors, to reflect your style
Vibration-tested, waterproof and built with fuel-resistant plastics to withstand the elements

*** Probably better than the HD one since we all use our trip odometer anyway!  all the features of the 2820 apparently...

Custom caps (silver and black)

I like that it has a battery (rechargeable) for the times you turn off the ignition...that is my biggest gripe about the 2730...which now may find it's way into Anne's Tahoe!

I only hope it has the better Tracks capability of the 2820...the 2730 sucks in this regard...

I think it does and can use the SD card to store them

This is cool!!!

Theft deterrent : Garmin™ Lock: When enabled, user must input PIN number to use device. Backup feature allows user to associate a security location, which will unlock unit when within 50 meters of that location

Assume you would set it for home.

"Users can also access zumo's trip computer page for trip information like speed, heading, and a customizable fuel gauge that allows users to define their motorcycle's maximum fuel range. When zumo calculates that the motorcycle is low on fuel, it automatically reminds the rider and suggests a route to a nearby gas station. "

Anyone attending the MotoGP U.S. Grand Prix this weekend can see zumo firsthand at the Garmin booth (#77) at the Laguna Seca Raceway infield, located between turns two and three.

That is just great.  I spent the last two nights changing out my HD fairing mounted Quest to my 2620 from the Heritage.  It's getting hard to stay on the bleeding edge of technology these days.

I also installed the Hawg Wired 2 channel amp and speakers.  WOW!  It was around midnight when I finished and took my 80 MPH test drive.  Sorry if I woke anyone up. ;D

Breeze...this is one area where one will never be able to completely satisfy the OCD...it's like buying a computer, digital camera, Ipod...the list could go on forever...you just gotta jump in and know that the next day they might come out with something better.   [smiley=nixweiss.gif] [smiley=nixweiss.gif] [smiley=nervous.gif]

The only thing I can see it does that ours won't do is the "fuel gauge", which admittedly is a neat feature, but not a deal breaker for me.  It also has the cute little motorcycle icon on the road map...pehaps we can get that as a download from the Garmin site [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] If not, the arrow will do.

The Zumo is nice though......where's DOOOOOOOOOD!!!  The OCD will get him for sure on this one, especially with the orange flames on top.... ;D ;D [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]  Dood...you're gonna have to find a way now, bro....

This is sweeet [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] I'll have to thank my kid for having to buy that laptop this month and making me wait for my GPS.

Especially since they are giving one away, and I've signed up for it, and believing that I'm going to win it. [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]

Suggested Retail Price: $1076.91 U.S.D. (domestic model)  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Looks like something for the Santa Claus do-me-right list, but $1K can buy a  LOT more chrome and go-fast too. Hmmmmm  [smiley=santa2.gif] ....
