New Thundermax ECM COming
« on: September 12, 2006, 08:42:58 PM »

Hey Guys,

Just ordered a Thundermax ECM,should be here Friday. Will be taking the 103 Express over to Cliff Piper

www.piperperformance.com to do a dyno pull with the SERT then change the ECM  out to the T-MAX. and do

some additional pulls with  the T-MAX. Should be interesting one way or the other. I'll post the sheets when

 we are done. Greg

You do the Thundermax alone or with the closed loop kit?

Did it alone, closed loop supposed to be ready at the end of month. Pat says it's simply an add on to the system. I was going to wait until thay had the closed loop ready but no need to do that. Warrenty runs out 02/07 then it maybe  time to give it a shot of 113 steroids>>> Greg

Just got the T-MAX installed>> WOW. Very EASY install , the only issue I had was removing the ECM. the bolts

have Loctite on them and you'll want to rock them back and forth several times to heat up and "release" the

Loctite . I didn"t do that on one of them and twisted the brass insert  and had to remove the caddy and drive out the

insert, remove the bolt and glue the insert back in the caddy... After the inital fire up the bike started to

calibrate itself and settle in. Initial impressions are great, Ass Dyno feels strong and I picked up 3-5 MPG

no decel  popppng, nice idle quality, nice smooth power. Will get some time on bike then

Will go on DYno this Sat pull both the T-MAX and the stock ECM with a SERT tune up in it...We'll see what

we have. Can't wait for the 02 Sensor add on.. I'll pull it again and see what we have.. SO far I really like the

T-MAX. Money well invested.... Greg

Was this a real measure or also an ass-dyno measurement?  If the latter than I should be getting half that already just knowing I'll be getting one soon?

THe 3-5 MPG was a real measurement or as close as I could eyeball it>>>>I'll run another Tank or two thru it and keep you posted ..Greg

That's great news Greg.  I've of course got high hopes that the tighter regulation, greater number of measuring points and the addition of the contant real time monitoring of the closed loop addition will increase fuel economy enough that the entire job will be repaid in fuel costs in just two or three tank fulls.  But, really, any gain is worth accepting since that's not really why we do this kind of stuff anyway.

Hey Texas, what is the rest of your setup besides the Thundermax ECM? I'm curious as I have one on the way.

wants to play with it and see what we can make>>>>> I believe you will really like the T_MAX just be patient

with the ECM bolts, nice and slow rock em back and forth to break the Loctite loose. PM me if you need

assistance be glad to help if I can<<<  WInter Project..... ZIppers 113

I installed the T-Max on my 04 FLHTCSE, very easy install. One question, does your bike idle a little high (1200RPM 5-10 min) when cold?  Zippers said this was normal.
Thanks

Thanks
roadrunner,

This is the way the software is set up (see attachment, this is a screen print from the T-Max software with a standard map loaded).  You can change that curve in your SmartLink software to suit your preferences; reduce the amount of fast idle, or change the curve to drop the fast idle quicker, etc.

Thanks, I can use your screen shot as a guide.  I just drag down the IAC stop to match the RPM I want at the specific head temp.  I'll let you all know how it works out.
