FLSTSE3 - Forward control part numbers
« on: October 26, 2014, 06:42:24 PM »

Hi All,

I want to get rid of the floor boards and install forward controls on my FLSTSE3

Does anyone have a list of part numbers required to do this ?

Any issues known if I change ?

Regards
Mark

Your bike doesn't have forward controls?

I am thinking the controls are already kinda forward aren't they??? I can understand wanting to get rid of the floor boards...they are a pain in the butt. I figure the more I scrape them the sooner they will just come off by themselves. But they do come in handy for when I hit the long road.

Yes they do have forward controls, however I want to change the from the FL controls with floorboards to the FX style forward controls which requires different brake peddle, gear shift lever etc.... like the forward controls on the Breakout.

Hey mdraper,
I was out riding the other day and thought of you and maybe what a good idea you have after all.  I was doing a downhill curve to the right and leaning into it pretty good...well as good as you can on one of these convertibles...when I scraped pretty hard. So hard that the pavement picked me up and tossed me and Rose sideways just over the double yellow center line of the road.  Fortunately for me the pickup traveling in the opposite direction must have saw what was going on and hugged his right side of the road, sparing me and my Rose from much pain and maybe even death.  I don't intend to change the floorboard setup but for sure you have to be careful...I was very lucky.
