Has anyone tried or seen a backrest manufactured by Haulinass? I was wondering how it fit under the seat do you have to drill holes :o does it cause any paint damage? I would be installing it when the little lady rides and removing for solo riding. Thanks for any info.

Softail Owners: No installation modifications to your fender are necessary for model years 2000 - 2005. 2006 - 2009 model years require the addition of a small notch on the edge of the existing hole already in your fender under the seat. This is easily done with a small round file or dremel tool. Depending on the stying of seat on your bike, a longer rear mounting screw may be required. The picture shows a screw out of J&P Catalog, Item # 8500090 (NOT Included)***
my opinion
Looks like it bolts onto the existing seat mounting holes, like with most things there is a chance of scratching fender paint especially with continual fitting and removal, best to email them about fitting this on your specific model as CVO have wider tyres/fenders than standard softails,

I thought a lot about this and ended up putting on a stock backrest with a luggage rack. I didn't go with the detachable. You'll lose the chrome trim pieces on the fender mount permanently if you go with the detachable and you've go to relocate the turn signals out to accommodate the detachable mount.
I went with a medium height back rest. Also bought a T-Bag that works well if I'm on a road trip. I'm pleased with the solution. Takes me about 15 minutes to change out the back-rest/luggage rack. You'll need the special lug screwdriver for the rear fender lug nuts.

Here's the T-Bag. I mount it inside on the seat; it can also be mounted on the luggage rack if you had a passenger.

Thanks guys.
RPR50 I sent you a PM

Is that an aerial on the back, looks like one for sure, its huge!!!

I didn't notice it at the time of the picture. It's a bamboo pole marking the edge of the road for the snow plows. Looks like a CB; it isn't.

i put a backrest mounting bracket from a duece on mine. it mounts under the seat with three bolts and a reinforcing plate on bottom under fender. you have to drill holes for it though. i like it cause you can leave the chrome trim on the fender strut braces, and you can bolt on the duece luggage rack too. it looks like a mini sissy bar when the backrest pad is removed. its also the exact same width as the flame paint lines on the 08 rear fender. my 2 cents
