it's official, another CVO down.
one week ago today I was rear ended by a woman who was not watching traffic ahead, my bike is totaled.
I'm remarkable well considering.

There was a lot of accidents on the highway last Friday, we had finally got through a couple of them and were cruising at the speed limit of 70.
after a couple miles of this I saw the traffic stopping again about a mile ahead. I checked mirrors and began to slow, she was a long way behind me so I didn't pay as much attention to her as I should have, figuring since I could clearly see a couple of miles of cars all having brake lights on, so did she. wrong answer.
The next time I look at mirrors, I saw her grill closing very fast, I was going about 35-40, she was going 50-60, she shoved me down the road for about 100 feet, then we separated and I went down.
The state patrol who showed up kept calling me superman, cause I rode the bike through it, and was still walking.

Yes I'm OK, whip lash, sore back and neck, but fine. Thank God I was wearing my leathers, cause they didn't fare so well.
bent the frame and all, was told today they estimated $27,000.00 in damage.

Holy crap! What a mess! Was she charged with negligence? Glad to hear you were not more seriously injured! You can always get a new putt. If your frame had been bent, it would have been a tougher fix. Prayers for rapid healing being sent your way!

I would not want to be an owner of an Orange and Black 12 this week for sure.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune, but as others have said the bike can be replaced. You did a hell of job riding – hope you heal fast and are back on the road soon.

. This was exactly what happened to me when I was rear ended. $:-\$ . I am so happy that you were able to walk away from this accident. I hope you fair better than I did with insurance company. The kid that hit me had insurance and so did I, but unfortunately as of June 18, it has been two years for me and I have not received any money for my totaled MC.

Wow... Brings back memories of my 04 O/B SEEG scattered all over the highway. Not rear ended like you - just an encounter with a deer with my cruise set at 80mph... Bike was totaled. I was a bit better. Broken wrist, couple fingers, separated shoulder, cracked sternum and bruised lungs. Stiff and sore for weeks! My first and only crash. (knock on wood)

Did a few end over ends in the median of I 90 in Minnesota. Plugged the exhaust pretty thoroughly with mud! But all's well that ends well. I had a check from Progressive Insurance one week later for the full MSRP of the bike. I had another brand new 04 O/B SEEG about two weeks later!

Of course, it was a few more weeks before I was able to ride it...

She did get a ticket, but the Stater sided with her saying my lights were pretty small and hard to see, FRIGGIN JACK ARS!!!
Washington state has a law that if you hit someone from behind you are at fault, so that was on my side, he had to site her.

I am going with a 2013 Road Glide in Candy Orange, and adding the options myself this time instead of getting CVO and changing out a bunch of parts.

I loved the 110 on CVO, but I think I am going to build a 113 on the Road Glide.

I had Progressive insurance, they are covering everything then going after Farmers, her insurance.

Sorry to hear about the accident.
I still haven't hit the road yet. 2 1/2 months and my foot is still a little too swollen to put a shoe on it, but I can hardly wait to run the SERK.
I'm going to try to get her out before I go in for surgery.

My wreck was 20 months ago (texting teenagers t-boned me). I was able to get back on after about 2 months. I still find myself flinching at intersections from time to time.

It does get better, but it never really leaves you.

Plus, it's obvious she wasn't paying attention if you could see the cars ahead with brakes on...she should have too!

The most important part is that you are still with us and in relatively good shape considering the circumstances. Metal and rubber can be replaced.. flesh and bone is a different matter.

Indeed - a good takeaway from rear-enders is to never assume they see us slowing or stopped. I'm actually considering a BadAss rear brake light now.
