Rode a Motus
« on: August 28, 2018, 09:55:09 AM »

Been following this ride with some interest. I'm intrigued with the whole American made and concept hoping I would give me another option for touring bike. Main concern was the ride position and price. So rode for about 40 mins and wow what a cool bike. V4 with tons of HP and midrange TQ. Best of everything brakes suspension, frame. Little sparce on amenities. For those who style like the twisties this is a great bike. Still working on the riding position with handle bars and windshield. If you get the chance go ride one.

So, it kind of sounds like you bought one, did you?

I think it's a bit like a SBC cut in half, but with all new parts etc.  SCAT out of CA did an engine like this for their oval cars and it's supposed to be really strong.

Dan I did not and not sure that I will. If money wasn't a concern I would already own one, it was a blast. I really looking to fill avoid for a touring/ cruising bike. Not sure the high dollar Harley is going to fit the bill anymore. Will keep the hotrod I have for now and add to the collection. Going to ride a 1600B next

Motus is a neat bike for a boutique motorcycle.  However, lack of dealer network, stability of the company, etc. would concern me.  I'd hate to buy one, they go out of business, and I'm stuck with a "DeLorean."  I just looked, there's one dealer in my state...six hours away.  Some states didn't have any.  It would suck to breakdown in the Dakotas and have to ship the bike home just to get it repaired.

For my pocketbook, the K1600B would be more palatable.

BMW of Tampa is a Motus dealer, they have a couple of new bikes that are at least 2 years old. They have been outside in the front of the dealer storage area it appears to me there whole life. They seem to be holding up well as far as aging, rusty bolts etc. Dealer is VERY motivated to offer extended test rides if anyone is close to him. Salesman I spoke with said the assume they will never sell these two bikes as anyone spending that much money would want a new one. He did say they would except offers if anyone is interested and they are on the dealers website. Also when I was there they had a bunch of the BMW Baggers and were begging folks to test ride.

Do yourself a favor and look at or demo that K1600GT and/or K1600GTL as well. The panniers are removable and if that bike is limited, it should be higher than the K1600B.

Wow...is this for real.?....

Unfortunately...it made the local paper (AL.com).  I personally didn’t care for the style of bikes they built but those motors were awesome!!
