One Of Our Members Recovering From Surgery....
« on: April 07, 2007, 01:47:34 PM »

Just wanted to pass on that one of our members is at home recovering from heart surgery. Some of you in Virginia may have ridden with VaEagle (Dave) before, or know him from his posting here. He sent me a PM today since he hadn't been around for awhile to let me know where he had been and what had happened. Without getting into to much detail Dave had open heart surgery to have a valve replaced and is at home recovering at this time. The operation was a succes, but he will be restricted in what he can do for awhile (no driving cage or riding bike for several weeks). Please keep Dave in your thoughts and prayers while he recovers.

Picture below is of Dave he is standing to my right between myself and Mr.WeCVO (Jamey).

Best wishes for a speedy recovery and smooth rehabilitation. I know of one rider here that recently had that same operation and they actually replaced one of his heart valves with one from a pig. He's now a true HOG!

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the kind thoughts.
They considered looking at the HOG valve job for me but they only last about 15 years and have to be replaced. They went with carbon and titanium for me so  it would last a lifetime but I am on blood thinners.
My first time as inpatient and no real previous problems.(birth defect just got worse and affected heart rhythm)
Glad to be home resting and recovering, looking forward to riding in about a couple of months, got to let the sternum heal from the open heart operation.

Hey Dave, just take it easy, follow the directions, and behave for a while. You'll be up-and-running in no time.
Best wishes and some prayers for you!

(Carbon and titanium? Not chrome? Did you explain to the Doctors the importance of chrome parts??) :D

Dave, you take care, follow the Doc's orders and we will be riding together again soon.  I am taking a month off myself in a couple of weeks to get a knee cleaned up a bit.  So Look Out May-June in VA.   :huepfenjump3: :bananarock: :cherry:

Wishing you a speedy recovery.  The open heart sugery/valve replacement will be good for 50 years or 500K, whichever comes first.  The hard part is letting the bone grow back together, but then you'll be better than new!  Rest easy and you'll be good to go by June!!
