Along with the other stuff poly riser bushings
« on: April 06, 2009, 04:09:23 PM »

I also added a set of poly riser bushings while things were strewn about the garage.

The bars feel much better now. Did have a bit of a problem getting them on though. I had to lift the inner fairing (remove all screws) to get the bushings in. Since these are a polyurethane material they don't crush like the factory rubber bushings.

This caused a bit of a problem with the radio. The fairing now sits about a 1/16" of an inch higher (maybe 1/8") because the radio bracket hits the top of the handle bar clamp. There is a gap between the inner upper and lower fairings now.

Next time the radio has to come out for any reason I plan on drilling relief holes in the radio mount. Hint Don - how 'bout those painted trim rings?

Must be because you have Wild1's as the HD pullback bars work fine with the poly bushings.

We shouldn't have to do this much to these bikes to make them GREAT.

Weird are the various assembly tolerances and how they add up.  I've got poly bushings and 575 bars on the red bike.  No clearance issue at all.

Gap with the new poly bushings. The handle bar clamp screws hit the radio bracket. Next time everything in the fairing  has a reason to come apart I will remove the radio and cut relief holes in the bottom.

With the Sony radio there is plenty of clearance for the holes.
