Title: new windscreen for 2015 CVO
Post by: spook120 on October 02, 2014, 08:00:30 PM
Anybody change out their windscreen yet on their 2015?  Pictures please?  Being 6'4" I am getting beat to death behind the stock screen. Thanks in advance. Spook

The bike comes with the dark smoked  7" windsplitter, I changed mine out to the 10", looks the same but 3" taller and only light smoked is available. It works perfectly for me but I'm only 5' 10", the only thing is it has a curved area on the top, so looking through it may bother some people, you may need to go to a12" or even a 15", I'll get a picture of it tonight

This is what I put on my 14 limited last September, it has now started to fracture at mounting holes, and continues to grow. I have a inch pound torque wrench and installed per their instruction sheet, dealer says HD will not warranty even if they install . it is highly functional but will not last, there is another manufacturer listed in an older thread on the site, I saw several of these at MV14 event there twice as thick and have a recurve also but are optically undistorted in the curve unlike these. About $90 I think, much better choice.

Functional, aesthetically just can't get past the overhang on top of the inner fairing from the shield

Klockwerks 8.5 flare may work too, if you prefer to stay with that look, I had one on my TK,
height wise was the same as the HD 10" sport shield

I don't mind them a bit, adds a lot of deflection on the sides

Check out Freedom Shield (a vendor on the site, too).  Great product, optics are perfect and polished edges give it a much cleaner, finished look than any of the HD shields.  Plus, the plexi is a bit thicker.

I've tried five different windshields on my 2012, including the 7" windsplitter, and hated it the most. It raised the wind higher, but also funelled it into my ears. The best i've used is the elite ultra flip from "Long Ride Shields" I oun a couple of them now. At your heighth i would sugest the 8" or 9" They also have a video on how to measure for the right heighth.

Thanks for the replies.  Just got back from the local HD dealer.  Think I will go aftermarket as the higher screens are basically clear.  I want to retain the dark smoked look on the bike.  Most likely will go with a Cee Baily screen as that is what I had on my 06 street glide and it worked well.  Any hassle in changing screens out that I should be aware of with the CVO bike??  Thanks. Spook

X2, had one on my 11 CVO SG and really liked it. I will most likely purchase another one for the new ride when it arrives.

A 7" just don't cut it (that's what she said) ;D

I'm only 5 -10 and the 7" is only up to my chin  (that's what she said) ;D

but the 10" is right under my nose where I want it (that's what she said) ;D

I just installed a Freedom Shields 9" Dark Grey Tint.  I am 6'2" and this works great. I could probably get by with a 8".
