Can the 2008 Springer go the distance like a touring bike
« on: October 02, 2007, 06:38:52 PM »

Yeah, I know it's not a touring bike, but its so dam good looking.
It now has the wider front tire and I'm taking a second look at it.

I took my RKSE3 to Sturgis this year and the Heritage (with the stock seat) last year.
I really couldn't tell that much difference. I wonder if it would be the same with the Springer?

I rode down with a mustang seats and I felt like I was in a SUV, looking down on the little
people (just kidding). Those with SUV's would understand.  I need something closer to the ground.

Has anyone travel any great distance with the Springer? How did it feel?

Thanks

well, I didn't have a springer, but I rode from Atlanta to Key West on Se Fat Boy.  I had to buy a gel pad and I still would have to adjust every 3.5 miles.  Maybe it's because i dont have an a$$!  The long haul sucked, but the around town cruising was the best with it.  Try it out, if you dont like it, get a trailer and then you can get teased with the t-shirt that says "nice trailer pussy"  My dad got one when he rode from Boston to Sturgis.

It will be great.  I had a Heritage Springer Anniversary model and providing you have a decent seat you will breeze it.  I went around France on mine.

Good luck on a great journey. :2vrolijk_21:

I'm not sure about the 08 models, but I just rode 9hrs one way to go to a ralley in Northern Texas.  I didn't have any problems whatsoever and with cruising around 80-90 mph I got 50.33mpg.  I was surprised.

Have a '07. Put hard saddle bags on it and rode it to Thunder Beach from near Atlanta, GA. Has Corbin rumble seat saddle. Not a problem. Not as comfy as my Road King, but darn close. Now if I could put a tour pack on it! Go for it and have fun.
