Question For '07-'08 Springer Owners
« on: May 21, 2008, 06:22:25 PM »

Have any of you done anything about your right leg/thigh burning when it makes contact with the top of the motor. If I extend my legs and put them on top of the pegs,or hook them on the rear pegs to rest,it burns the crap out of my thigh. The only time I don't make direct contact with the motor is the normal riding position, which I can't take for very long.I have seen those small clear plastic shields, and was wondering how they work.  Thanks

Hmmm, unless you're wearing asbestos boxers,I don't see how you don't get burned. The very top of my thigh sits right on top of the rocker cover. Not close to it,on it.If my seat was an inch thicker, that might solve the problem.I don't know.

I have an 07 and I dont burn my thighs but I am also incredibly short.  I am 5'2 at best.  But I do have problems with burning my legs on my pipes.

Well,I'm 6'2 but I don't see how that would have anything to do with it.Plus I have skinny legs,so that's not it either. My leg touches the motor on the right side. :o

6'1" and I haven't burned my leg either.  Now it does get hot when I extend my leg out over the pegs.

Yes,that's when it gets me,but not just warm,I can only go 5 min before it starts to burn.

I just got back from the Harley Shop.I ordered a HD Tall Boy seat that moves you up and back two-three inches. This should give my leg some  clearance from the motor and stretch me out a little for more comfort. Also ordered the Kury saddle heat deflector for good measure.

With the stock seat and regardless of where I put my feet on the pegs, I have no problems with too much heat on my thighs.
maybe it's just the way I sit?

and like I said, I ride in shorts in the summer.....

also like Tommy2Tall said, I need to watch sometimes with burning my calf on the exhaust when my feet are on the ground, but that's just because of my height and the height of the bike....

ok, I just went and sat on my bike to see where my right leg sits.

if I'm touching anything on the right side of the motor with my leg it's the air cleaner cover, and that keeps my leg from getting any closer than 3" away from the top of the rocker box.

drogers,

I feel for you, but I don't have any problems like this either! I know this is the second thread you've posted on this subject. In the last one you mentioned that you couldn't get used to the forward controls. It'll be interesting to see your photos because this bike does not seem to be made for your body. Either that or your engine is running way hotter than any of ours.

I'm 6' 2" and burn the inside of my right thigh every time I stop the bike and put my feet on the ground. I never bget burned while riding, tho, and I ride with my heels on top of the pegs. It's been a running joke with my friends that I should have an asbestos patch sewn into the crotch of my jeans. It would prolly itch more than a bad case of the crabs!!!!!   :'(
