Let's see if we can find all 64! If you want to be listed on the registry, please post here, or send via PM the following information: Last 6 digits of your VIN, the date you aquired your "Blue Flame" FXR3(s), your name and where you live. I'll update the spreadsheet and re-attach it to this first post here as new information comes in!
If you know of where a Blue Flame FXR3 is located, but perhaps the owner is not a member here, please supply as much information about the bike as possible so it can be included on the list, as well! :2vrolijk_21:
2 down, only 62 to go! :2vrolijk_21: :huepfenjump3: :huepfenlol2:
You bet! Planned on looking the info. up on those when I had a little more time. I know of another one in a collection at an H-D dealer, too! That's 5 and we ain't even got to Dave and George yet! ;D
Here's a couple more Brian! ;)

Calm down, Howie! :huepfenlol2: :drink: :P KSims' bike was originally green. :huepfenlol2: And Doug hasn't been on the site, well, maybe since he made that post in 2004. :nixweiss: Would be good to be able to verify the current whereabouts of a bike like that. We never would, but he may have sold it by now. :o :confused5:
2nd unit from anniston, al. area is owned by Greg Feiner, purchase date was dec. 07. His last 6 numbers are 651662. he is 2nd owner of this bike. I'll get in touch with other owner soon..and get you the info. Dave out for now..............
His bike came from Minnesota, i found her on ebay and the rest is history.
Dave, just wanted to double-check what you posted: the first position of the last 6 is a "6?" I think that should be a "9?"
Got 8 of 'em on there! :2vrolijk_21:
I can't open the spreadsheet xls file, could this be sent as pdf? thanks, dave
Hoist....
From what I read....it appears you are "on line" with my thinking.....so doing a couple of quick changes to the post in the heading and then doing a google search might make the most sense in trying to come up with the "BEST" title...
like for example Brian could play with a couple of options....and once again....PERHAPS it takes Google a couple of days to get the change I am not sure how that works....whether you type something in instantly and then it appears on Google or whether it takes a couple of days....
SO
1999 FXR3 <~~~~these are a given for initial terms
remember the second population you are after may only know there is an FXR3 and not know the colors...but they would naturally type in 1999 FXR3 first I would GUESS, next are the key words that you are trying to position yourself to the top of GOOGLE with....because you aren't expecting them to know this thread even exists....
You guys all realize that the official color of your bike and name HD has given it is....
1999 FXR3 Dark Candy Blue With Flames <~~~that's how they reference the color....and AT least that's how it is listed on one of HD's SPECIFICATION SHEETS that's why I changed the color names over on the thread 1999 FXR2's FXR3's and FXR4's Photos...
By the way go to google type in 1999 FXR3 Dark Candy Blue With Flames and see what comes up 3rd....
So back to the question.....a topic heading
1999 FXR3 Blue 64 Owners <~~~maybe this....or
1999 FXR3 Blue Flame 64 Owners or
1999 FXR3 Blue Flame 64 Owners Registry
Tim
so you are saying you think a topic heading of:
1999 FXR3 Blue Flame 64 Owners Registry <~~~~ is what you would choose or you are saying something different?
Regards,
Tim
that is quite the title and may just work......
Regards,
Tim
Uh, who wants to take this over?!? :nixweiss: :huepfenlol2: Yahoo!-ing "FXR3" resulted in CVOHarley.com being the second listing. To my way of thinking, if the guys with the blue ones haven't found us yet, they ain't gonna! :huepfenlol2:
Check this out - this is what came up first in the Yahoo! search: http://www.fxr3harley.com/HOME_PAGE.html This is the one the guy had in Cincy. He told me when I was talking with him in February or so that he was working on a dedicated website to sell the bike. Can't believe the effort this guy went to! :o
It's gone. He had an ad on HDtrader.com, too. Both say it's sold. Guess all the marketing worked! :nixweiss:
I'll add it and the 3 you posted about earlier, Howie. Think I'll highlight these in yellow, though, since we don't really know the current status of these 4 bikes.
I just noticed that out of the 64 BLUE 3's, only nine were CA models. That means Joy is only 1 of 9 ever made! It's the rarest CVO of all! Holy crap! :o ::) ;D ;)
Hoist! 8)
That's what I tried to tell you back here: http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=25790.msg418863#msg418863 ::) :huepfenlol2:
Anyway several of us through the years individually wrote [without each other's awarenes] to HD asking for the letters on the number production for these FXR2s, FXR3s, and FXR4s and so I see MY LETTER poping up everywhere on the net....I AM JUST GLAD I HAD THE FORESITE TO remove my name and address before ever sending it out to someone........LAUGHING......geez.....
Howie....
Actually I didn't write one, Lisa Sagen, from Harley Davidson Customer Service wrote one for me on July 18, 2005. She however did not specify as the 2007 Letter states how many units were built for CA. She simply provided the total amounts for each color for each model.

Tim
By the time the 3rd Anniston, AL BLUE 3 gets added, we'll know the general whereabouts of 25% of these things! :huepfenjump3: :drink:
May as well add this 3rd one from anniston now..always can add vin numberss later on. owner is Mike Abernathy, location Anniston, al., he has had it about one year. he and i were bidding on it about a year ago..and Mike has more funds..so let him have it. Original owner was from Georgia. just a note..in case we have some wide glide collectors ..Mike has several wide glides cvo's ..no miles ,that he has collected over the years and may part with one or two of them soon. Let me know if interested ..and i'll pass the word along. When he gets back with the vin # of his blue fxr3 ..i'll pass it on to the group. dave

...so there are 4 blue 3's in Alabama..that we know of ..and I'm on the look out for more down here..
It really is amazing that out of 64 bikes built nearly ten years ago, 4 are in Alabama. And near each other within the state to boot. And several of the owners know each other.
Hmmmm. I think I said it before. CVO FXR get-together in Alabama. Roll that thought around.
[edit] The 29 Dreams Motorcycle resort is over just outside of Birmingham in Vandiver. Not far from Anniston. And it's been a long time but I strayed off the road a bit during a business trip from Atlanta to Birmingham some years ag just to explore, and it seems like I recall nice rolling nearly-Blue Ridge mountain landscapes (nice riding) around Anniston. Do I have that right or am I losing my memory? Just thought I'd throw that in.
:2vrolijk_21: You're all over these Blue 3's!!! :huepfenlol2: This guy's been on recently, too. Well, July, anyway.
Well, before I got Cybil, I read and researched everything I could find on CVO's and SERK. But I wasn't planning this one, and since I'll be waiting 2 more weeks for Joy, I figure I'd learn everything I can about FXR3's before she arrives!!! That includes going thru every thread on this board!!! Notice we almost have 2 pages of posts in Aug alone, in the FXR2/3/4 Board now! Apparently I'm not the only one excited by these fine machines!!! ;)Hoist! 8)Hell, I'm excited by them and don't own one. ;D har! spyder

Here's an add of one:
http://www.hd4sale.com/pages/Detailed/5560.html
At what point do you guys start helping people with their ads, according to this person there appears to have been some NEW 1999 FXR3 Blue Flame bikes produced......let's just say it looks like about 386 more....lol....yikes.....
Here is the ad:
".......1999 Harley Davidson FXR 3. Only 900 of these babies made! 450 in green and 450 in blue . This model is the blue one. Comes fully chromed out and factory custom flame job paint. But if you are in the market for one of these hot collector items you all ready know all the details! Only 240 miles. Don't get much better than that unless you bought one new in 99 yourself. $16,000....."
Regards,
Tim
Tim, check the 3rd Party For Sale section of the site. I think it was CVOJOE who posted a link to that bike. Jorge was interested, so Howie called for him to try to find out more information. The guy was surprised the ad was still active and said the bike was no longer for sale. Weird. :nixweiss:
To answer your question, I would think we don't want anyone to know how rare they are until after we buy them all up! :2vrolijk_21: :drink:
Man, looks like I got some work to do! Great job, guys! :2vrolijk_21: Won't get it updated tonight, but over the weekend for sure!
And while looking for a BLUE3 for a friend, I found these 3 bikes. Whether we have all the info on them or not, we can still keep track of whatever we have on them, and try to find em all!!! ;)

Hey, Howie, the first ad is expired already :( and the second one was already there ;). I added the 3rd one! :2vrolijk_21:
Brian...So how many of the Blue 3's have you found of the 64 so far? :2vrolijk_21:
Sign me up as another Blue FXR3 owner, last six SN are: 951617.
When I bought it, it had a little over 12K miles, ported heads, an S&S carb, and a Red Shift cam. So far I have put in SE heads worked over by Branch, Wiseco forged pistons, a .560 lift, 240 degree V-Thunder cam, and worked over CV carb. I also put on an Electraglide gas tank painted to match. I still have the stock gas tank if I decide to go back.
Also, I installed cartridge emulators and dual front disk brakes with HHI calipers. I love the look of the Thunderstar wheel, but even more I enjoy performance and the stock brake was not up to what I wanted.
I know the rarity of this bike and would never do aything that might make it hard to return to stock.
FXRs are great bikes all around and the CVO FXRs, as well as the FXR-SP and FXR Convertible are the best of the bunch, at least as far as I am concerned.
I never could have afforded it if prices stayed so high. I don't care (for myself) if they fall more, since I don't intend to sell the scoot. I didn't buy it as an investment.
Hey, Bullwinkle! Thanks for the post! Would be great to see a few photos of your BLUE3! :beerchug:
I'll get the registry updated with your information soon! :2vrolijk_21:
what wat the reason behind the FLH tank?

Hehe! I told ya they'd find us! ;) ;D
Welcome to the site, dmar! How 'bout letting us know the last 6 of your VIN, month you got it, and showing us a photo or two of your BLUE3!!!
What's going on. I own a 99 Blue Flame. Bought used in Chidago in 2002. I now reside in Phoenix. This is a great bike and always turns heads. Mine is completely stock and i intend to keep it that way. Rock on. Cool site.
Dave
dmar, did you happen to post on this site previously as DOUG_in_PHX? If not, we have 2 BLUE3s in Phoenix!!!
Would that make it a 'baby-blue3' ???? har! spyder
Mine's currently at the bottom of the list VIN-wise. Could it be "the last BLUE3?" :nixweiss: ??? :huepfenlol2:
Would that make it a 'baby-blue3' ???? har! spyder
You can add me to the list. Currently on Vancouver Island is 951559. I'm the 3rd owner. I purchased it in LA in 2005 w/ 2500 miles. It's one of 9 "California only" FXR3 Blues. I'm interested in anymore production info' or history regarding the CVO's in general... is there a good reference book out there?
Mike, check out the Excel attachment in the first post of the thread to see the VIN spread of the ones we have so far. The first one is 951265 and mine (the 14th and final one we have a VIN for, currently) is 951804, a 539 spread.
Anyone discover any new blue flame FXR3s lately?
Heck we know where a bunch of those are. We're looking for those rare blue 2's now.
Hey Brian, that is one great shot, the angles on the scoots and all, in your signature block. Makes the EVO front wheel look great sticking all out there. :2vrolijk_21: har! spyder

Gentleman, There's another one on e-bay right now with a VIN#. Brian, write it down OK. Hope all it well with the FRX team and I'm sorry I've missed so much by not being on-line as often as I would like to. I hope everyone has a Happy Holiday and a Merry Christmas to all!
Best to you,
George
PS Here's the (new/ other) bike.
I'm the proud owner of a 99 FXR3 in Blue Flames. I became the fourth owner when my boyfriend gave it to me for getting my MC license. He bought off of a Stone Mountain Ga HD mechanic. The VIN number is 951789.

The registry has been updated with "Ga_Puddles'" info. and is attached to the first post in this thread. Including Teresa's, we've found 24 of the 64 produced, or just under 38%! :2vrolijk_21:
WooHoo!!! Just 40 more to go!!! Any way of checking insurance records of some type, to get any that might have been totalled? That might account for a couple more. I hope none were accounted for that way of course. Just sayin.... ;)Or the ones that got 're-painted', or chopped, or just became parts-bikes, or had fairings added. :o har! :drink: spyder

I know where another Blue3 is located. It's in the Daytona area of Florida. I tried to get her to add hers to the registry but she's afraid it will give someone info to come and steal hers.
Blaine's right. If someone wants that info. for the intent of doing something like that, they're gonna get it whether we post it here or not. But I can certainly appreciate someone's concern along those lines. If she has a change of heart, by all means, pass the info. along. If not, it would be great if she'd at least join the site . . . with no pressure to provide the VIN to her blue 3 if she didn't want to!!
Now that would be COOL! 8)
Ya got mme thinkin now Brian; I wonder which of the Fxr4's was the LAST one made. Just think if ya owned the very last FXR ever made ;D

anyone can walk up to her bike on the street and get the VIN number ...... that's no big deal
cars you look right through the window and get the VIN
just having the VIN doesn't give away personal identity .............
having said that, and given today's environment about identity theft, I can appreciate persons concerns over such matters.
I bought my blue FXR3 in Miami in late 1998. I still own it. I have won in many bike shows as well as a car show. I will think about giving the VIN number. I was able to find out alot about bike fromthe VIN number through the INternet. I cover my car VIN ALL the time. I am a female rider with lots of bikes to ride. Harleys and sport bikes

These days with computer records and such; anyone could bust into the DMV records ( except me) and find an address also. Keep talkin to her and maybe someone brighter than me can come up with a way to identify it for registry records only...
Funny how times change. In the early 1970's I bought a used Austin-Healey from an individual. I wanted to know the complete history of the car so I called up the Georgia DMV and asked if they could give me the previous owners of a vehicle if I gave them a VIN. They said "sure", so I read out the car's VIN and the person gave me the names and addresses of the three previous owners back to the dealership where it was purchased new. I'm sure that would never happen now--not from a legitimate person, anyway. I imagine if someone wanted to, they could get into the DMV database....or find someone with a personal connection in the DMV to do it for them.
As Bob Dylan said; "The times they are a changin". So, did ya pull secret, stealth like midnight raids on their homes to commit carnage and pillageing ??? ;D Like has been said, anyone wanting to get the info will get it and I can understand Moon Shadow not wanting to make it easier by posting on the net; ya never now who is lurking in cyberspace. Watching the news just a few minutes ago where some store owners have gotten busted by pointing their security cameras at the card swiping pads to catch folk's PIN 's as they type them in...So hey, there's always some jerkoff out there looking over your shoulderThey must have a much higher grade of security camera than the ones most have out there that give the low resolution pics.....you can hardly make out gross features much less a card number. ::) har! :drink: spyder

No raids or pillaging but I can also understand one's reluctance to put that info out on the web. But look at the membership on this board. It amazes me how many of our members willingly put a map down to nearly their street address on their profiles. Sure would be a breeze to figure out where a lot of these expensive motorcycle live. Don't need a VIN or license number.
That's precisely how a member from the Chicago area found me a week or two after I got my SERG back in the fall of 2007. On a whim, he left home to see if he could find my house and see the bike using only the pin that I'd stuck on the member map. While I was completely pleasantly surprised to see this particular individual cruising through my neighborhood as I returned home from work that day, it certainly got me thinking about what could happen if someone with the wrong intentions used that information to do the same thing. But having said that, and while I've moved my pin to a more generic location on the map, you could probably pull up to any gas station in town, ask where the guy with all the Harleys and Mopars lives, and by the 3rd station find someone . . . either the attendant, or someone gassing up . . . who could get ya within a block or two - so, there again, there is more than one way to "skin a cat." At that point, if someone shows up looking for free vehicles or to do some other harm, H&K or Kimber will have something to say about it, first.
[/quote
Ok...you guys have made me paranoid now. I now live in Somewhere Ga and my pin is at a Ga state patrol office and prison that I know of many miles from home. As for the VIN maybe they will go for the highest numbered one on here and not mine.....LOL
another blue flame was just listed for sale on ebay.. he has repainted it..

great research..... :2vrolijk_21:
So are you going to make an offer on it?

It's a great bike and likely a near perfect example - but not anywhere $22,000 - for me anyway. Love to have it, but....
I wonder what they went for off the showroom floor in 99? Just guessin around 21-22k?
Hey there. I own a 1999 FXR3 Blue on Blue Flames. "1535" last 4 digits.
Let's see if we can find all 64! If you want to be listed on the registry, please post here, or send via PM the following information: Last 6 digits of your VIN(s), the date(s) you aquired your "Blue Flame" FXR3(s), your name and where you live. I'll update the spreadsheet and re-attach it to this first post here as new information comes in!
If you know of where a Blue Flame FXR3 is located, but perhaps the owner is not a member here, please supply as much information about the bike as possible so it can be included on the list, as well! :2vrolijk_21:
my blue flame bike is located in Anniston, al. 36201 ..I'm owner. last 6 on vin are:951636...i purchased it 1-3-07 from fellow in tn. i'm 3 rd proud owner of this bike. I'll get info on the other 2 here in town...if they will release it to me. i don't see a problem. mine just turned over 8k miles this past weekend. mine has 140 rear tire and had to reverse strut bolt to keep it from rubbing tire..a minor modification. dave brandsma
it will be interesting to see who has latest bike w/ the highest number in our group.
99 fxr3 cvo blue flame on blue
I just bought one, VIN ends 951265. 22,600 miles, very good to xlnt cond. Noticed in the "Registry" it was the first listed by McCarthy Wholesale in CA. I bought from a private party in CA. Can anyone verify that there were 64 Blue and 620 Green FXR3 CVO's produced in 1999? I've heard 900 of each, 900 total (Green and Blue), 900 between 1999-2000 (FXR2, FXR3 and FXR4), all hear-say. Any Harley literature that actually states the breakdown of the FXR3. Needless to say, it's a very sweet bike!
??
Hey there, Hows things going? I am not very computer savey, but I am an owner of a 1999 FXR3 Blue Flame. I have been trying to registar it there,to no avail. But the numbers are # 951535. Beautiful bike, Mark... and welcome to the site!! :2vrolijk_21:Yes, Mark. Very nice example. :2vrolijk_21: har! spyder
Have the same letter myself, 64 is the magic number, 620 for the green on green combination.

It was 620 models of the green on green, not 420 like my previous post stated, my bad!!!!
Welcome Mark, beauty...
You should send it to me Florida to retire and get yerself a new one...I'm just sayin..
John, Do you know which member is the former owner? I would like to chat with him. Trish

I think they are looking for the "former" bike owner not the "forum" owner. :nixweiss: I did get a kick out of "the godfather" though... I'll have to use that one. :2vrolijk_21: :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:
the godfather is forum member user name naitram

If you know somebody in DMV, you can probably track him down. I gave him a site business card and told him what you guys are up to.
BTW, love the looks of that rear fender on there!well, we all like different looks. Guess that's what makes it so interesting. I like the stock, non-willie, fender better.......but, that's just me. ;D har. :drink: spyder

103tHunDer,
Found another Blue to add to the list. It's on Craigslist in Champaign, IL under "1999 Harley-Davidson FXR Custom - $16,900". I called and got the vin. Last three digits are 561 according to person who answered the call. Bike is listed with a lot of mods. - both accessories and performance. Being sold on consignment by Mid-State Cycles in Champaign.
To All-
Yesterday, on the phone I talked to Dana a MoCo representative who told me that there were 300 candy blue flame models made. She also said that 621 emerald green flame models were made, which has been understood as the correct number. So, which is it for the blue flames--64 or 300? I've seen the letters from the MoCo posted online which say 64, but how could the rep I spoke to yesterday be wrong? She looked up the records from her database as I spoke to her. I don't know what to think anymore. To me it makes sense that 300 were made b/c since January, I've seen about 20 listed for sale. Seems like such a high number in such a short period of time for there to be only 64 of them out there. In that same time, I've seen between 40 - 45 greens for sale, which would be @ about 6-7% of the total 621. It would make sense then that if there are 300 blues out there, then the 20 I've seen for sale would also be about 6-7% of 300 total.
SBB-
I'm not worried about it, which is why i chose the emerald green flame in the first place- because I wanted an FXR instead of a 96" Dyna. I preferred that color better than the other 5 color options in the 1999 and 2000 models. In addition, I liked the 19-inch front wheel, and the bike only had 1,600 miles on it and was in pristine condition. It was the best available option at the time. I didn't say anything about my bike being an investment. As a mater of fact, I don't view my bike as an investment to make money but rather an investment in my fun and recreation time. I enjoy riding my bike and look forward to riding for tens of thousands of miles in the future. It makes a difference because it affects the credibility of this site for one, and two, this thread seems to be one of the most popular on the site as evidenced by the 18 pages of posts and number of people viewing it. So, I'm just saying there's a chance that people are being are being misinformed. I'm simply trying to examine how that occurred. Did someone intentionally start a rumor to, as you imply, "make big money on it" for re-sale purposes or is the Moco at fault because it is supplying wrong info? Also, I'm interested in the history of the FXR, including its production numbers among other things, and I would just like to know what is the correct number?
To All-james u bring up an interesting point. the numbers on the hd cvo history web site state 900 units produced. if 621 were green then what is the real number for the blue ones.glad u enjoy the heck out of your bike.

But as I said, 64 or 300 it's still a fine bike.

I bought a 1999 FXR3 Blue Flame #951530 back in June of 2008. I'm the third owner of this bike. It now has 6600 miles on it. It is part of my collection now that I have all three of the FXR's A Stone cold blue FXR2, Blue Flame FXR3 and A Yellow FXR4. My friend just down the street from me has the other three. Together we have the complete set. Not bad for the small town of Farmington NM.
Photo of the stable please? Would be even cooler to see a photo of all 6 together!!!!!
This is for the BSer that likes to talk crap.

Name: Jon D.
State: Washington
Purchase date: February 15, 2011
Last 6 of VIN: 951691
Where would one look to see the registry? It seems like there is more than 64. The vin numbers span more than 64 also.
Sorry about that. I'm kind of proud of my collection. I see that you have one of the bikes I plan to add. The 2004 SE duece. My bud down the street got me into this collection. He is the one with the really nice stable. I think he is up to 18 or so bikes. We hope to get together and photo all of them. I will post that shot when it happens. The FXR's are a truely great ride. But for travel I'll stick to my FLSTC.
To my knowledge, it's never been taken over. My last update is attached to the first post in this thread and was from April last year. Anyone is free to download it and update it. I would even assist by attaching it to the original post to make it easier to find (you would have to e-mail updates to me), versus someone taking it over mid-thread where it would become difficult to locate quickly.Your email is hidden. Here's an update, below, with mine added.

That's not really what I had in mind. If someone wants to take this on and if they want to forward me the updates as they make them (versus starting a new thread of their own, which, of course, is another option), I'm willing to provide that person an e-mail address and then update the first post, accordingly. But since I've sold my blue 3, I'm not going to monitor each post in this thread for updates to the registry. That's too much like continuing to maintain it.awwww, come on, Brian. ::) har. spyder
I just finished some digging at HD with customer service and spoke with girl who wrote letter in 2007. She informed me with info currently available to her 300 total blue flame bikes were produced in 1999. i had fellow call me a liar, so i checked into it myself and spoke with her. I don't know where they are, nor does she..but the numbers stand corrected. Anyone can call customer service and speak with her about it. 270 for 49 states and 30 for Calif. She is one of 8 in customer service and verify the findings. Just wanted to let everyone know, if they care! DaveHmmmm, why the change in figures? Was it that difficult for her to know the correct number, 4 years ago? Either way, still a very low production number. I'll check back in another 4 years and see if the number changes......... again :)

I always wondered why the moco would produce only 64 of the blue flame and hundreds of the green flame. Just did not make sense to me. Makes me feel a little better since I sold my blue flame FXR3 several years ago that while very special, it was not as limited as the moco lead us to believe.
:huepfenlol2: :o har. :drink: spyder
Guess I should call her and see if the numbers are different for the 2000 SERG and 2004 SEEG now, too. ::)
Hello, i just found this web site. i have a 1999 blue flame fxr3.Im in Port Huron Michigan, im the second owner i bought it around 6 years ago from the original owner. last 4 of the vin are 951631How 'bout a pic? :worthless: spyder
it is not all original though the first owner put a lot of after market parts on it, but it is a great looking bike
Love the pipes? What brand are those and are they loud? Need to take off my stock pipes, hard to hear them as they come from behind you when in a car. Had a buddy ride up on me and didn't hear the bike before I seen it, hearing a bike in the blind spot of a car is real important.
Let's see if we can get this topic back on top!
While searching for some Blue Flame FXR3 history, I came across a link to this thread. A fella who is interested in buying my FXR wants more information, so I was here at CVOHarley to see what I could find.
My bike is #28 on the registry, (with my original 'DOUGinPHX username); I've been a registered user here since '04, when I first got the FXR3, but mostly just a lurker.
So, as I said, the bike is for sale, looking for $8,000. Does that sound about right?

I was told by HD Dealers that there were only 64 of the blue flame made...NOT 300..where did you get that info??
