That's how I found it too (i.e., Google flhtcse).

Hey guys. I just found this board searching on yahoo.
I have my name at about 10 different dealers in my area for a FLHTCSE. I guess I was a little late in deciding weather I wanted one or not. My local dealer is jacking the price $4500. He doesn't have me on the list.

I have a 2001 FLHTCUI now, and I ordered and 04 Road Glide that will be in January. If I don't get the call for the SE, I guess I'll have to settle for something less.

What's your color choice?  I can keep my ears open up here.  Last year, lots of folks gave up their spots when it came time to purchasing the 03 SERK.   Perhaps these skoots will be different.

don't settle for a bike, if you really want the CVO give it a chance each dealer should get between 3-5 electra glides depending on how big they are. i saw some 03 FLHRSEI2 bikes still available last month

Over the weekend I called and told them to keep the 04 Road Glide I ordered and all I want is the FLHTCSE, either color. They said no problem.
Now 2 different places have $500 of mine and my name is on the waiting list at another 4 places. The first dealer that calls is the winner.

With the way California emission BS is, I think it would be a hassle to buy out of state. I did think about Oregon or Nevada with no state sales tax. But decided not to mess with it.

Darn - didn't think of the emissions thing.  Glad to hear one should be available for you in-state.

ok, dumb question time. does the factory make the bike california leagle, or does the dealer do it as part of the delivery prep?
Title: Re: 04 FLHTCSE
Post by: Kingsalmon on September 16, 2003, 01:14:39 PM
I'm pretty sure the Cal emission comes from the factory. The HD web site lists 2 prices, California and everyone else. Its an extra $200 bucks.
It just ain't fare.

I called every dealer in town as soon as I returned from Milwaukee.  I was able to get the first one from one of the local shops.  It is scheduled to ship on September 16th (today) from Harley.  Does anyone know if these scheduled ship dates from Harley are very accurate?
Title: Re: 04 FLHTCSE
Post by: Minglewood on September 16, 2003, 05:24:56 PM
The set-up fee will pale in comparison to what the dealer will ask for over MSRP.  How much are you prepared to pay over MSRP , is the real question.  For me, I'm just not sure.  Don't have to decide until the bike is here.
Title: Re: 04 FLHTCSE
Post by: Kingsalmon on September 16, 2003, 06:13:57 PM
I found some places are charging over the MSRP and some don't. The 3 (yep 3) dealers that as of today at lunch time have a deposit from me promised nothing over the MSRP that is written on the HD web site. The closest dealer to my house said $33,000 + fees. They do not have any of my money.

Today at lunch time I went down and actually put my name on a Black and Blue one. No date yet. The other 2 dealers have my money but my name is not on a bike yet.

Post by: jay on September 16, 2003, 10:16:34 PM
This has been my experience with fees and delivery dates.  My dealer charges me $300 for set up.

As for delivery dates, the ship date from the factory is not the ship date to your dealer.  That is the date it is shipped to a regional carrier (trucking outfit.)  That carrier will wait until he has a load large enough to make the trip to your local area worth his while.  My experience is that the bike may sit with him waiting to get a full load for 2 weeks.  Once your dealer gets it, he needs to set it up and it depends on how fast he does that once the bike arrives.  Mine ususal takes a week depending on how many other bikes arrive on that same shippment.

I am planning on putting a touring seat on mine as well as having the stock one.  It looks like the seat will have to be a Road King seat rather than an Electra Glide one since the tank panel is so long.  Anyone know anything about this?  Anyone know if the new Comfort Stitch seat is as comfortable as the old Pillow seat?

As for color of choice, I saw the blue/black yesterday being set up in a dealer. I had my mind made up on the Orange and black, called the dealer where my order was at today and told them I would take whatever color came first. Both are great looking, the Blue and Black in photos does not do the bike justice. As for price. MSRP plus set up. But have seen prices at other dealers ranging up to $5500 over MSRP
Title: I Re: 04 FLHTCSE
Post by: Kingsalmon on September 22, 2003, 11:01:37 AM
I have a deposit at 3 places, One is MSRP + 600, One is MSRP + 900. Don't know what the last one is. I can deal with getting taken by a few hundred,

On the other hand I have seen anywhere from $1500 to $5000 above MSRP + fees. I refuse to give them any of my money.

I'm trying to find a dealership nearby that has one I can take a look at. I still haven't seen one except the pics.

Once in a while I get this big knot in my stomach for giving HD so much freakin money. Then I go down the list of stuff that comes on this bike and I feel much better. Sound familiar to anyone????? [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

You guys are lucky.  All Harley dealers in the Atlanta area are still able to get a premium on most models.  I am having to pay over MSRP for this bike.  Luckily they will give me an instore credit on the amount over MSRP after one year.  Close to MSRP I guess.  One dealer in town is charging $5,500 over MSRP plus a $650 setup.  They have already sold their allotment of FLHTCSE for 2004.

I keep thinking I could save alot of money by just buying the Ultra, but I have always wanted something a little different.

I got to see and sit on both colors in Milwaukee during the 100th.  Its probably the best looking bike Harley has made in my opinion.  Hopefully the high sticker price will be worth it.  The dealer called and said I should be able to pick my bike up on Saturday.

My bike has arrived at the shop [smiley=1syellow1.gif].  The stock pipes look great but are pretty quite.  They claim if they bore them out that they will sound terrible.  Does anyone have any pipe suggestions?  I would kind of like to stick with Harley or Screaming Eagle pipes.  I have screaming eagle touring pipes on my road king.  They are not very loud but have a nice sound.  I have heard the Reinharts.  They sound great, but I think they will be to loud for my son when we ride.

They claim I shouldnt have to have it remaped when I do the air flow kit.  Is this true with the 103 stroker engine?
Title: Re: 04 FLHTCSE
Post by: Kingsalmon on September 25, 2003, 04:43:51 PM
Congrats on getting the bike. I don't even know when mine will be here.
When it does come in I am going to put the Vance and Hines (I think they are called classic slip-on's). They make a nice deep rumble and they are mufflers not the whole pipe set. I'm thinking about adding the power commander, SE air cleaner kit and SE chip but I don't know for sure how much money I will have.
Vance and Hines suggests the power commander but you don't need it for the pipes.

naitram has a 2002 FLHRSE that I believe has the pipes I am suggesting, maybe he will let us know how he likes them.
You should be able to get them through your dealer.
Title: Re: 04 FLHTCSE
Post by: liketoride on September 25, 2003, 05:18:39 PM
The dealer just called and said the bike already has the SE air flow kit and the SE chip installed.  They currently do not know how to remap the FLHTCSE for different pipes yet.  They want me to wait for new pipes until they get a chance to get clear directions from Harley on what kind of remapping if any needs to be done based on different pipes.  They are having a conference call with techs from Harley tomorrow.  I guess I'll learn more then.

So I guess I will pick it up stock (except some highway pegs and light trim rings) and break it in first then decide what to do about the exhaust system.

Yesterday I saw a black one at the local dealer for the first time. I really like it. I'm jealous. What color is yours?
I can't freakin wait.

The bikes don't need much. But there is a some room to personalize it.

Did it come with the Chip and air cleaner kit, or did you pay extra?

When do you pick it up? Some of the dealers around here will hold back from telling you so they can have it in their showroom a couple of extra days.

I am off work in an hour and heading to Reno, NV. for Street Vibrations over the weekend. I wish I had an FLHTCSE to show off. Owe well maybe next year.

i do have the vance and hines slipons, wouldnt trade them for anything. sound good but not too loud. if you do the air kit you will need to remap most likey they can use the same mapping as flhrsei2 which also has the 103CI motor

Anyone hear the same?

Post by: liketoride on September 26, 2003, 08:14:33 AM
I am getting the vivid black and cobalt.  According to the dealer the SE air flow and SE chip are stock on the bike.  I guess I will find out more tomorrow when I pick it up.

I will pick it up stock and see how it sounds.  I am going to a party at a dealer tomorrow night, good chance to show off the bike.  If I dont like the sound from the stock pipes, I guess I'll buy some Vance Hines.  Everything tomorrow during the party is 20% off.  Will be a good time to buy them.

I dont think they wanted me to pick the bike up so soon.  But I knew the bike shipped, I have been calling every day to see if it was in yet.

My plan is to pick it up as early as possible tomorrow.  I would like to ride a few hundred miles before the concert at the other dealership.

i got the same story from my dealer 2 years ago. the SERK had screamin eagle mufflers but they were not performance mufflers the were stock flowing. also to meet EPA egulations the bike did not have high-flow air kit and and so it had no need to be remapped from the factory.  when the parts guys started doing their homework when i ordered pipes they found out that i didnt have the air kit. i would suggest that you call another dealer and get a second opinion on wether or not the bike came with the air kit and mapping

Well the big day finally arrived.  I got on my Road King for the last time and road out to the dealership.  When I pulled up to the dealership the bike was waiting for me out front.  It looks great.  I agree with the other person that said that the pictures doesnt do it justice.  It looked great.

I said my final goodbyes to my 2000 Road King.  I traded it in on the new bike.  They gave me a fair price considering it needed two tires and was due for major service.

After 3 hours of waiting, paperwork, negotiations, and having a last minute adjustment to the gear shift.  I pulled out on my new ride.

It was very responsive compared to the 88.  I was dying to crank it up.  The FLHTSCE sits almost a whole inch lower then my Road King.  Being 6,4"  I was worried that this would be a problem.  But actually the bike road a lot better, it seemed the center of gravity was a little lower.  Road great!!

The stereo has the weather band on it.  While I was listening to the weather, I learned I was heading straight for a thunderstorm and small hail was reported.  I was still 40 miles from home.  New bike and hail storms dont go together.  I decided to keep driving until I got to the other dealership that was having the concert.  It started to sprinkle a little before I got there.  Luckily the FLHTCSE comes with a cover.  Its designed for indoor use, but I didnt have a choice.  As soon as I pulled in I covered it up and the bottom let loose from the heavens.  It rained for an hour.  After the rain stopped, I uncovered the bike.  It got a lot of attention by the 300 other people waiting for the concert.

My only complaints so far:

The seat is like seating on pavement.  Its very hard,  maybe it just needs some breaking in.  That will be the first thing to be changed out.

I was in some stop and go traffic on the way home.  You  could cook an egg on my right thigh, the heat was so high.  I thought maybe it was the asfault, but my left leg felt fine.

Is this heat normal for the electra glide or is it the 103?  My Road King never had this kind of heat from the right side.

Hey Liketoride,
The bike looks great, How does it sound???

Biggmon,

I saw the bike on display at Walnut Creek HD. Vallejo HD is one of the places that has a deposit of mine. That deposit doesn't reserve me a bike, it puts me on the list.

Fremont HD has my name on a bike.

Everyone else,

I saw the Blue one at Steet Vibrations outside in the sun. It is one bad ass bike.

I also spoke to the factory rep, he said if you have a blue one coming you should get it before Xmas. Orange ones will start coming in January.

As for the Air cleaner and chip. He beat around the bush with his BS, but it sounded to me like if you want it, you will need to add it. Not recommended by factory.

I am assuming it is the same with all the other HD's.
I will have an another extra set of pipes, a box with a stock air cleaner and  and empty chip package in my garage.

I wonder if the chip that is in my "88" is the same chip as the "103"

Post by: liketoride on September 29, 2003, 11:12:57 AM
It sounds better then a regular stock harley, but I will have to do something to get a better sound.  Not for sure what to do yet.  I will break it in and take sometime to decide the best pipe solution.  The dealership seemed a little wishy washy on doing anything just yet.

The stock air flow cover has 4 openings, which I think is two more then the rest of the 88s.  One on each side.

Keep us posted on that right-side high heat situation.  I'm not a mechanic, nor mechanically inclined, but I wonder if it might have something to do with the oil cooler (like perhaps it wasn't functioning properly).  This bike should not get uncomfortably hot.  Might want to post in the SERK forum.

The Blue and Black is sharp, just does not pop in photos the way orange does. Was at my dealership Saturday and they are telling me October 20th on mine. Hopefully enough time to break it in before snow flies!

I have an '02 Ultra and get cooked thighs in hot weather if I am stuck in traffic.  Maybe the nature of the beast I guess.  I wonder if the 103, bewing stroked, is any taller than the 88.  That might make you feel the heat more??

Just got an email from Zylstrahd.com.  They have an FLHTCSE in stock for the small price of $34,999.   Suprisingly no one has bought it yet.  This is the highest price I have seen anywhere.

I liked the look of this seat a little better and with the full length console on the bike you have to buy a seat that will fit the roadking. I'll let you know how she likes it hopefully next week if she doesn't I'll be looking for a new seat.

Kingsalmon - Thanks but no thanks on the break in offer. If the weather is good for a few days in late November, early December I will get it broken in. Weather here has been good, mid teens Celsius (low 50's Fahrenheit). Just got out for a little 150 mile toot yesterday. Don't usually put the bike away until the snow flies and then only because they start using salt on the roads. Climate here very similar to coastal Pacific northwest lots of fog & rain in the winter not a lot of snow.

Finally got the mustang seat, it fits but the hole for the seat didn't line up perfectly I had to really push on it to get the screw in, Seats about 1/4 in. to long. If nothing else I can always file the hole on the seat. The seat looks good on the bike but the stock backrest does not work very well due to the seat being higher. I'm still waiting for my tour pack to come in. My wife said it was every bit as comfortable as the classic and will work good for long trips, I thouhgt it was more comfortable than the stock seat however it does raise the riding position by and inch or so.

I spoke to one of the dealers that has a deposit of mine and he said my bike was not going to come in for a couple of months due to delays in the CVO plant. Has to do with paint on the 03's. He said mine would still be a blue one.
The factory guy at Street Vibrations said if I am getting a bike before the first of the year it would be blue, after the first it would be an orange one.

I don't know if the dealer is BS ing me or what. Has anyone heard any stories like this ??

I have a guy that is supposed to let me know when they start the painting of the Orange. I have equipment in the Tomahawk Plant and was planning on doing a sales call in the plant when the orange started. You know check over my equipment and get a glance at the orange once they start painting it. The bike I have a deposit on is Orange. New to this site guys.....waitin' on my Cobalt Blue.  Found out about this site just a few minutes ago from Vtwinforum.com

Looks like I'll be spending a lot of time here.

Any of you guys driving a Harley truck when you're not on your bike?

Hey rugbyprop,

Please let me know if you hear anything about the orange coming out. Like I mentioned earlier, The factory guy said any FLHTCSE shipped after Jan 1, 04 will be orange. I would like to know if that hase changed.

Hey JCZ,

Are you doing business with Sac HD??
They are one of the 3 places that have a deposit from me. Michelle took my money and put me on a list. I don't even know if I am getting one from them or not. I really would like to do business with them.

Vallejo HD did the same for me.

Fremont HD says I am getting a Blue one, but don't know when. They said at least a couple of months which conflicts with what I heard from the factory rep that displayed a blue one at Street Vibrations. I don't care what color I get. They both look good.

As far as the HD truck goes. They don't make an HD 4x4 so I had to settle on an 02 Lariet Crew Cab 4x4. Then I put PIPES, CHIP, and AIR CLEANER KIT on it. Sounds exactly like my 01 FLHTCUI,  and close to what I will do with the FLHTCSE. I think I am setting a pattern here. I may do the above and put a power commander in the FLHTCSE.

Kingsalmon I think I met you on another site.  I was talking to Michelle on Sat. and yes, I've been doing business at HD of Sacramento for the past twenty three years.

They do make a Harley truck in 4x4!  The 04 model is either an F-250 or F-350 (your choice) Superduty, 4x4 only, short bed or long bed (your choice).  And in case you end up with the Harley Davidson Orange and Vivid Black FLHTCSE you better get down to the Ford dealership and order your Harley Davidson Orange and Vivid Black Harley Edition 4x4.  Yep, they're in Dark Shadow Grey, Black or Orange and Black.

Hey KingSalmon, I know you said keep you posted on what I heard on Orange and Black. I was told to check back in a month. By January 15th or so  they are supposed to be gearing up to full production on the Orange/Black paint. The words I have heard is March to April on the first ones. Middle on January is when dealers should be seeing them hit their order sheets with ship dates.

Thanks for the info, I guess the dealer wasn't BSing me.

I went and picked up a Blue one the other day. I guess the guy ahead of me spent too much money on xmas and couldn't afford it now. Bad for him, great for me. I got myself a bad ass bike for myself for xmas.

Very impressed with everything about this bike.

You will love it.

Interesting fact, considering that the Road King and Road Glide and Deuce have been out for awhile.  Are you guys contacting all the other CVO owners and informing them of this site?  I do it in person and on the internet, at the other sites.

Also, be sure to let me know if you decide to go to Sturgis.

I'm up to 700 miles now..the weather in DFW has been outstanding.  I have not dyno'ed the bike yet, debating if I'm gonna do it.  I pretty much have spent all I can afford right now and the onlything a dyno would do is make me spend money on something to improve the results.

Sturgis..still trying to coordinate with my buddies to see if their going..will let you know soon.

Cabo if the tech knows what he's doing on the dyno and the bike, he can squeeze another 10 hp and another 10 or 12 lb-ft torque out of what you already have.......no more money spent (other than they dyno tune).

JCZ......was it a random statement or do you know something when you said "especially if they go back to the RoadGlide next year". I must know....I must I must I must [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif].

On a rumor note...I had seen apost in here somewhere where it was stated that Harley will not be putting the Revolution engine in any other bikes......talked to my handy dandy dealer and he said yes and could be in a year. Maybe that would be the next Screaming Eagle bike? A Revolution powered bagger.

He also told me you will start to see the mild versions of the 95 and 103 inchers as standard engines in coming years (as most of you probably already knew)
Title: Re: 04 FLHTCSE
Post by: JCZ on December 28, 2003, 10:31:23 PM
return I don't know what they're going to do next year.....just rumor (and wishful thinking).

As for the revolution in any current model.....I was in Rapid City during the Sturgis rally in Aug. 2001 when Willy G first uncovered the new V-Rod.  At that time he said that that bike, motor and all was a new member to the Harley Davidson family.  And like any family, one member does not replace another but go through life together, side by side.  He went on to say that the V-twin as we know it, will generally stay what it is......that it will continue to be refined but will not be replaced by a liquid cooled motor or any version of the V-Rod.  That was only two years ago......I'd find it hard to believe that they changed their minds that quick.  JMHO
Title: Re: 04 FLHTCSE
Post by: mr_magoo on December 29, 2003, 08:42:55 AM
As quiet as they kept the V Rod you never really know what HD is up to.  I have heard rumors that 06 is the last year for a carb and that a water cooled touring bike is in the works as well (emissions regs) but don't quote me.

Post by: psycho on December 29, 2003, 05:23:59 PM
I see water-cooled in Harley's future--all bikes eventually. To keep up with the Jones', they'll need more performance-more heat-more efficient cooling. Has anyone heard the V-rod? Does it have the Harley rumble sound?

return2mow (where did that user name come from?) that's a very interesting post that I've wondered about several times.

The manager of our local dealership told me that they did this, too and the bike can't be built for what it sells for.

You would get several K back from selling the 88" motor that you would replace with buying the 103" but then you'd have to add the labor, too.  And.........side by side identical, the "built" bike isn't going to have the same value or warranty that the stock limited edition bike will have.

We are going to be riding a very special motorcycle!  Not a Jesse James or OCC but a genuine HD limited edition and .........the comfort that JJ or OCC can't offer up.

I read an article the other day that talked about the softail platform was the most widely popular and sold bike in HD's history but now it's the touring platform.  I'm not surprised.

First try at this.  [smiley=confused5.gif] I am the origonal owner or a 2000 FXR4 and have always loved this bike. I have put 12,000 great miles on it since new from New York on Sept 11 to Gatlenberg TN. for the best riding I have ever been on (Deals Gap). This is the perfect bike around town or long hauls for me but my lovely wife has started going on my rides ever more. Not all bad but need we need more room. I dont know if I should sell or keep it. The local dealer say to keep it. It will be worth alot some day? My question is why keep it 20 years??? just to sell it later. I cant justify having 2 $20,000 plus bikes. any help on the this would be great from the bike I think I would better fit my needs.

ttk1 welcome to the site, we appreciate having you join us.  Pull up a chair and a   [smiley=drink.gif] and join us for awhile.

Your dilema......hmmmmm??  If you're not sure go rent an Ultra Classic and a Road Glide for a day each.  But to save you some time, go ahead and buy your "For Sale" sign before you go for your ride.  Soon as you return, your only question will be "which model?".

Then I suggest that you make it one of the CVO editions....either one of the SEEGs, that you see here or the Road Glide model.  You will not be sorry......I guarantee it! [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Well I went to the local dealer to see if it was still posible  to get a and they thougt I was pretty funny so I looked at new stanards and classics. $20k for the standards and $23K for the classics out the door. So for now I think I will keep my FXR4 and see what CVO does next year. Oh I think they wanted 10%down on top of that. Well at least  I still riding.

ttk1 the SEEG (Screamin Eagle Electra Glide) will be out again next year.  Can't tell you what it will look like or have on it but if you want one, have your deposit ready as soon as the dealer's show is over in Aug (that's where they announce the following years models).

Sacramento HD gets six for the whole year and all six were spoken for within a week or two.

The tour pak shouldn't have holes in it other than for the back rest. [smiley=confused5.gif]  What holes are you filling.  I used black silicone on the extra mounting holes in the bottom of the tour pak on my road king, makes it look like a rubber plug if you get on your hands and knees and look.

Anyone hear a chirping kind of squeak while riding the SEEG?  I'm almost at my 50 mile initial break-in period, but have been hearing a chirping or high-pitched squeaking when idling.  Upon throttling up, it goes away.  Seems like something may be a bit loose near the engine, and when it is chugging away at idle, it shakes something enough to squeak it.

Post by: Kingsalmon on February 26, 2004, 10:13:50 AM
I don't here any squeaking or chirping. When I first got mine I had what sounded like lifter noise, real bad.
I took the air cleaner off and put it back on and the problem went away. The air cleaner wasn't mounted correctly. I thought one of my saddle bags was loose cause when I hit a bump it made a noise. It was my tool bag bouncing in the saddle bad that made the noise.

Doc have them take a look at your top motor mount, also.  I don't have my SEEG yet (it ships Monday) but I've had that chirp that sounds similar to what you describe, on my Ultra Classic and it was the top motormount.

I didn't know where to post my good news so decided to post here.
Fremont HD told me the part is in and I should have my bike dyno tuned before the weekend. It is not suppose to rain this weekend so I should be able to pick the bike up. I will post the numbers here on the dyno page. I got an email notice from UPS saying 63 lbs of stuff is coming from Chicago HD. I'm thinking, Corbin seat w/heater, and back rests, chopped tour pack, mounting bracket, and the antenna relocating kit.

I will post some pics when it is done.

OK what am I doin wrong, the smilies don't work when I click them anymore???

Looks like it worked, to me. lol

I'm really anxious to see the before and after (as I recall, you're getting both?), especially after what Santa Cruz told AK (personally, I think they were trying to sell him more than he was wanting to buy......I think they call it up selling).

KS be sure to ask them to do an air/fuel reading on both of them, and to print it out with they dyno sheet.  I'm happy for you, but not pleased with them and the way they've done you.

Here is one for you guys. My bike was in the shop last week for the dyno and now my alarm doesn't work. I haven't read the book yet and I'm going to call the dealer this morning when they open but figured I'd see if anyone has heard of this happening

BTW, has anyone got a speeding ticket yet? I was ridin last night and noticed at 70 I feel like I'm going 40.          This is not good when riding around town.

Am I the only one having trouble with the smilies ??

I am really hoping that as more people actually get their bikes that this area will pick up in comments.  I have learned a bunch, but am really interested in functional and styling ideas that people have come up with for the SEEG.  Anyone have any ideas on things that they just had to have/do to customize their SEEG?  Performance is OK, and necessary, but I want functional/aesthetic also.  Burning off a rear tire is not my forte.  Haa.  Thanks.

Well the bike is at the shop now getting the chopped tour pak installed, antenna relocated. I decided to go with the tour pak mounted kit instead of the hidden antenna. Mostly cause of the holes that come pre drilled in the chopped tour pak.
Also getting the Corbin Dual Tour seat w/heater installed. Then I think I am done for a while. I will post some pics as soon as I can,  I don't think anyone has mentioned this yet but one of the best things this bike comes with is the automatic garage door opener. With the other bikes I fumble in my pocket for the clicker. With this bike I can pull up and hit the hi, lo beam and I'm in.

I said I'm done for a while, I'm lyin, I need a luggage rack for the tour pack. That will be next.
Life is good.

First thing I did was open the garage door with the handheld remote...pulled in and my wife came out to the garage and before she could say anything, I had her go to the wall where my existing receiver (for the Deuce) was located...had her press and hold the button, flashed the his' and BAM, it was programmed before I even shut down the bike.

Range is marginal at best...the receiver is located on a side wall about 7 feet from the Garage door.  It seems to be about 100' range at most...I have a 350' driveway and the Genie remote usually works at about 300' but sometimes right at the road...

If you're talking about the gap in the ring where the screw clamps them together.......there is a solution.  The foam insulation strip is the problem.  You cut three short piecies and put it in 1/3 sections around the ring (instead of putting the whole thing in their).  It allows the clamp to be screwed completely together.

Another alternative is to cut a small piece of flat plastic to fit inside the ring where it screws together.  Wrap it in foil (shiney side out) and put it inside the ring, where it screws together.  As the ring tightens you will have a small 1/8" section that continues with the foil wrapped plastic.  I've done it both ways on two different bikes.  Nobody notices either of them.

823 miles on the bike in one week.  Take it in Wed for the Vance & Hines Pro Pipe, high flow air cleaner, race tuner, tour pak lid organizer, leg fairing vents, push button fuel door lock, before and after dyno run, highway pegs, etc.

Then I take it next Sat. to Corbin for them to use for their mock up.  They'll have it for a week and in return, I get the seat of my choice.  You guys can probably guess which one that will be.

KS the link that you provided is an "invalid item".

AK also ordered one, but did not get it.  I got my first one and tried again this past Sat.  It would not let me in to the pay section, so I'm assuming that it's no longer an ebay item.  I sent them an email yesterday, but have not received a reply.  I'll let you know, if I do.

Some of the stuff listed on ebay is not on the web site. Do a search on ebay for (8" DK Smoked Windshield). Then click on "View Sellers other items"

I tried to use that Anadale last night and it didn't recognize my email address as the buyer. I'm going to just call him in a litte while.

This is what I'm ordering.

8" Dark smoked Windshield  (not on the web site) $19.95
Chrome windshield molding for FLHT (not on the web site) $24.95

These are both good deals compared to HD.

I can't believe how much I love this bike.  Every time I get service done,  I take a different loaner from the rental fleet at my dealer.  I've had an '04 Fat Boy, an '03 Ultra, and an '04 Ultra so far.  These bikes always have windshields, pipes, small extras to make them comfortable.  I can't believe how much I want mine back from service.  I've never been like that before.  I always enjoyed my time riding other bikes.  Never again.  I never want to give this bike up.  That, to me, says a lot about these new bikes.  AMAZING!

I also can't believe how gutless the stock 88 feels now.  Even a stage II 95 inch on my old Road King now feels wimpy.  Makes me think.

Post by: Darrellh on June 13, 2004, 07:07:19 PM
I had the Progressive 440 installed on my seeg about a week ago.  It's been raining almost every day so I haven't had much of chance to test them yet.  In the one short ride that I did have I noticed a big improvement in the ride, and that dam weave in the ass end in the corners is gone.  Worth it for that alone.  They are easy to adjust, you just turn the top and the spring in the direction of softer or stiffer, no tools required.

Our bikes have a 12" shock and I used the progressive 12" 440 standard in chrome. They have a heavy duty as well.  There is a sizing guide on thier site that has all the part numbers for the different versions of the 440.

Sorry I have been out of town for awhile and not able to respond to some questions.  However I went with the 12.5 inch heavy duty because we are usually riding two up.  Make sure that if you change the height you have someone help you keep the back tire from dropping to far when you take the shocks off.  If you stay with the 12 inch it takes longer to take the seat and hard bags off than it does to replace the shocks.  Just take off one shock at a time and its no big deal.  I bought the shocks from Custom Chrome because I have a  friend that is a dealer.  The best online price I found was at direct parts at around $440 and free shipping.  List is about $510.

I was quoted a price of $400 (including shipping) from Krooners   www.krooners.com

I'm thinking about changing to the Progressives and was also considering the 12.5" shocks to give a little more travel than the stock 12" shocks.   I'm hanging back and seeing what others have to say before I decide for sure :)

We had the bike on a floor jack and when you take the shocks off the the rear end drops I guess you could lower and raise it with the jack but we had a 2x4 under the tire and raised it up with the board.  It's not as difficult as it seems.  It might have been that the board was already there because we had to get the rear end up to get the jack under the frame.  Hope  that helps.
