I think if you just changed the background in the emblem from black to red as spydglide suggested would be a huge improvement and give a custom look.  It also would pretty much keep with your theme and is relatively easy to do with a little paint remover and a tool to fill engraving with paint.

JC, think you misunderstood, according to my ultimate scheme, the black would be chrome, the bar/shield and Harley Davidson script would be red. It would be at least a 2 step process. Further complicating the issue is some parts (primary cover, timer cover, and inspection cover) experience high heat so simple paint might not work. I work myself into a tizzy over these details.

Ya gotta figure out how to golden the flames on the derby, points and air cleaner cover to keep with the theme.  I gotta admit, I didn't think there was much more you could do to that beauty, but you keep finding a way.   :2vrolijk_21:

Tough to make out in the photos but the flames on the derby cover, inspection cover, air cleaner, and horn cover are gold. HD makes 2 types, chrome only and gold flames. That's one of the things that got me started in making all flames gold. I had the shifter rod, hand grips, rear turn signal flames, flames on the gas cap and LED fuel gauge all golded by a detail shop in trying to keep the theme consistent. It gets crazy after a while.

Funny you should mention that! My wife has suggested some sort of treatment as well.

I would expect someone like you to understand and be sympathetic to my illness!

Now that you mentioned it, I can see it in the pics now.  I should have known better.   ;) ;D  You are a sick puppy, but in a very good way.  8)

Flame covers golded and awaiting reassembly and installation. Gonna look cool! You could never do this to a BMW!
