This is my first bike and I don't know what would be the best choice for a engine guard. I'm 5.9 with 30 in leg. I like the look of the linby bar but I only seen in pictures. Also i like the twin bar by linby also. I like the fact it already has the flip out pegs plus a clean look. Any feed back picking a better choice engine guard would be much appreciated. To be honest I,m not a big fan on engine guards but I heard it could be a bike saver if ever fell down not to mention your body. Thanks

I like your thoughts about the Engine Guard - still on the fence myself. . . .
-
I got the standard ones and put a helmet lock on mine. Plan to install front foot rests on the front, not just pegs but matching CVO pegs..

Sweet ride nice color choice. I like your tinted windshield ! did you get it tinted or did you order it that wayjavascript:void(0);

I went with the linbar, goes well with the sharp corners on the bars. I do think it is pretty close though, I am 5'10 and it is still close. I added highway pegs to give a lot more choices of positions for the most comfort.

It is the stock windscreen from the 2011. Being only 5'8" I found the new taller one to tall and right in my sight line.

Could you post pictures please! I agree that the sharp corners match better. I'm a woman and looking for more riding options. Will I be able to reach highway pegs??
Thanks!

Before you buy, find someone with a set and see how they work - feel !
I agree that the Lindbar looks good, but it really matters if they fit your riding :2vrolijk_21:

I have the linbar with long horn peg mounts and switch blade pegs from Kuryakyn. I'll see if I can get a closer pictures with my pegs on the bike.

My first bike was a Fatboy and I put an engine guard because it was an accessory, I then lad a low speed accident. Broken rib and aches on me. Engine guard scratched, Primary scratched, rear fender damaged. Ultra Classics have a rear bar and if you drop it it just sits there (had a 2007 CVO Ultra). Had a 2011 and have a 2012 CVO softail and never bothered, they add more weight to the bike, I don't get on with highway pegs. If I'm going to a 2,000 mile run I take the Heritage ;)
Thanks Kev

I got the Lindby - Linbar yesterday, and I like the way it looks, and is comfotable to use.
Good luck :2vrolijk_21:

Hey, Willie, though I am not sold on the pewter/brown distressed leather package, I think that is one fine engine guard!! Never realized it before but the corners on it do indeed match the handlebars above and keeps the theme going. Now if only someone would make matching saddlebag guards for the bike, the missus would be safer as well as the rider. Again, I think it accentuates the bike fine, man! the Porkster. and the set of highway pegs I put on mine would do well on that bar as well.
-
Porkster -
which pegs did you use :worthless: :worthless: ? Not sure which way I will go :nixweiss:
Thanks for the compliment, I thought it would keep the theme also. Don't need Bag guards, and don't have a passenger anymore.
As far as the Distreesed leather, I wasn't sure about it either,
but it really grows on ya, and I don't have to worry about Scratches/scuff marks.
I'm a big fan of the Denim finish, so easy to keep clean.

Ah, now there's a fact that I'm not sure you revealed as of yet........you have drilled out the tinted '11 windshield and installed the brackets for your gps...how clever! Yes, I know what you mean about easy clean with the denim. Time will tell and there may be more people that come over to that camp as time goes on. Curious now what will be in store for the softail CVO for '13. I have been thinking that it would be a CVO Heritage (the real thing) but have decided that if it has a 160 or so rear tire, I would have to pass on it. And keep my '12. I never thought I would like the FatBoy frame but with that big fat rear tire, I'm spoiled if only for that one item. I am wondering though, if they will make cruise control standard for softails or will it just be for the deluxe models...........could be such a draw for getting people to buy new bikes!
-
Willie, I used the rear pegs that came with the bike. If you don't have need for a passenger, you could move them to the front and just put on a chrome washer and bolt for those rear mounts and it would finish off well.
-
Porkster,
I looked at that, and thought they looked Too Big ?
Thx,
-
You know, I almost replied, "that depends on the size of your boots" , but then I realized that I actually put my feet close to where the pegs attach so most of the peg is actually exposed. guess you just have to make your own judgement.......... Which you have. :D

Thanks for the pictures they look awesome on your bike. Any reason why you didn't choose the twin bar. I thought having the fold out pegs would be a nice option.

Didn't feel the need for those, I only wanted a place to stretch out on Long trips, and these will work fine.
Plus I didn't like the added $$$ !

I agree that it would be nice to have one that matches the Convertible's lines. I have the Linbar on mine as well and it looks great.

What is the P/N of the bar , is it for Softail or the Fatboy?
