I'm amazed that there is no mention of Langlitz in this forum topic.
I see alot of mention of Fox Creek Leathers and they look like a good quality outfit. I've never heard of them before going through these 9 pages though. I did notice though that they have copied the Langlitz design in their Classic jacket.
It looks like it's a east coast vs. west coast thing. East has Fox Creek, and we out west have Langlitz.
Some difference's I notice. Langlitz won't build a pair of chaps for one, and they give you a choice between light, medium, and heavy weight leather. There's been more than one biker end up with 2 pairs of leathers after ordering the heavy stuff. LOL

I'm a bit 'puter illiterate.
Another thing I noticed as far as diffs go, is that Fox Creek starts at 450.00 samolians. My last Langlitz with a few custom mods was about 900 or so.

I have Langlitz leathers, both jacket and pants. The goat skin is the best soft right from the start and tougher than cowhide. There is nothin better than having them make them just for you. Kinda pricey but much better than off the rack which you can do also. They are a small shop down on Division st in Portland Oregon. They only build about 7 garments a day. Very nice people to deal with and they make all the leathers for the Portland motor cops. Still run by the Langlitz family. For a long time the wait for custom made was over two years, but not so now. They also make leather shirts. gloves and boots. The quality is awsome.

I have both Langlitz and Fox Creek, as far as quality IMHO Langlitz wins hands down. Fox Creek does have nice leathers for the price.
Langlitz also numbers all of their leathers and registers them to the customer. All pawn shops in Oregon (that I know of) if they get in any Langlitz leathers they are suppose to contact the store to see who owns them. Helps stop a thief from making a fast buck.

I don't know much but I do know that one never ever argues with a gal when it comes to the quality of clothing! :2vrolijk_21:
We have 5 jackets, 3 Columbias, 1 cascade and one Bomber. The Cascade was built in 1967. It's horsehide and my 13 yo is already eying it. My dad ordered it with a matching set of competition pants. Unfortuneatly someone borrowed the pants back in 69 or so and they've not been seen since.
I get a kick out of people taking my jacket, to hang it up at a restaurant for instance, and commenting on the weight. Of course the ::)CW in it does add a bit of heft.

That is right, they do offer the CW pocket as an option, as well as a small finger pocket in the arm pit area for those that need it. But since Langlitz makes all the motor cops leathers they know right where to look. ;D

We bought Landlitz Goatskin Jackets with Sam Brown belts last spring. The quality is unbeleivable ,better than any Leather Jacket I have had or seen in 45yrs riding .

The thing I like most about my Langlitz jacket is I am not dying to get it off my back as with others in the past. When you have one built just for you it is so much better. Once you have had or been around Langlitz you can spot them in a crowd because the quality is that good.

When you buy from Langlitz,Dave and the crew there make you part of the family-for life. My wife and I have jackets and Westerns(pants), hers in goat and mine in medium cow. I also have a goat vest. I can say honestly there is nothing that fits me like my jacket and westerns. I won't go into the time tested design as that would be pointless. Theres imitators and theres the real thing. Langlitz is how it should be. I won't ride without it. Here's ours a while ago righ tout of the brown paper wrapper.

The top photo is my Columbia jacket in medium weight cow and the 2nd post has my wifes goat Cascade on top of our westerns and my jacket.

Back in 1991 when I went to buy leathers I looked at two sources. Langlitz in Portland, OR. and Bates in Long Beach, CA. Both are excellent. While in Portland I toured the factory and got measured and looked at the merchandise. When I got back to LA I did the same with Bates. The ONLY reason I went with Bates over Langlitz is that they are close to where I live and I could go in and get measured and fitted while it was being made. I got to hand pick my hides and hardware. I had them measure me sitting on my bike with my hands on the bars. I know that sounds OCD, but it makes a difference. The jacket is NOT designed to look cool standing around the parking lot or in a bar. It is designed to fit and function from the saddle of the bike and that it does. In fact this skinny Hawaiian boy had the Bates jacket made with insulation in the arms too. I also had a pair of chaps made up. I have been through five motorcycles since then.
In 2005 I saw the Fox Creek Overpants and bought those. The quality and fit is good, but not as nice as Bates or Langlitz. In 2007 I decided it was time for summer weight jacket. I almost bought the Fox Creek performated jacket. In fact I went to Bates and showed them a printout of the jacket and asked them to make me one. After a short discussion on the benefits and non benefits of perforated leather I went with a Bates Super Vent in chocolate brown instead. I could not be happier. While I was at Bates I had them modify the Fox Creek Overpants more to my liking.
Custom tailor made leather clothing is EXPENSIVE no doubt. But it will last a lifetime, and NOTHING beats the feel and fit of tailor made.
Langlitz and Bates. Both are #1 in my book!

I wonder if that's the same Bates company that made motorcycle seats back in the day. One of the best seats I ever had on a old BSA was a Bates saddle. spyder
