Slotbike's Krypto Mods-We're just getting started :)
« on: March 24, 2011, 02:32:39 PM »

Ok, here are a few pics taken by the guys at American Custom Exhaust up in Fairfield Ct. last week.  We made an agreement that they could use my bike in their advertising and web site if they would do the install.  I did this because I wanted to hear all the different baffle configurations that they had.  They are just launching their Ceramic coated pipes and I must say, I LOVE THEM!  I settled on the mid-range baffles.  The stock "Low Growl" is so awesome sounding but, for me, here on Long Island.....too loud for the Bike only traffic "pipe check" stops that the police are doing.  I also want to hear my sound system.  These are the nicest guys that you could ever meet. Call them and speak to Eddie or the owner, Bruce!

I've noticed that you and Kridley (from another thread) have both chosen to add the Saddlebag guards to your scoots. Perhaps you can tell me what made you choose to do so. I'm really liking the blacked out fork lowers and engine guard. Thanks.

Doc, I can't speak for him but I can tell you that my wife has the streatched bags on her Street Glide and they've saved her paint on more than one occassion.  On one occassion, it was in a dirt/gravel driveway up in the mountains.....that would have did a lot of damage had the paint hit that.

See these three photos......  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=32927.msg681464#msg681464

Doc,

I had them on my 2010 FLHX.  The front guard is the HD factory black one (I had the dealer swap it when they did the lowers) and the rears were my chrome ones that I had powder coated (HD makes them in black also) If you ever drop your bike (standing still) you will save yourself thousands of $'s in "saved bag fees".  My main reason was also to have a place for the Harley rear saddlebag guard Bags that attach to them, which I also have!

Slotbike, the bike looks great! I like the idea of the saddle bag guards as well. I will think about doing that on mines. I like the idea to have those guard bags for convenient storage. Keep the pictures coming.  :cucumber: :cucumber:

Thanks Lucky,

Pics will flow, don't worry :)  Just an update on my rear fender.....it is in and the bike goes up to New Roc in a week for replacement.  JP and I are swapping consoles (I'm getting his black one, he's getting my chrome one) and I am having New Roc install Black Flush mount Gas Gauge and Cap (I ain't touching anything that is double stick taped to this bike anymore LOL )

I forwarded the questions and comments to American Custom that a few of my fellow members here asked regarding their pipes and the effect on the "tuning" of the bike.  Here is their response:

Glenn,

Thanks again for everything, we’re stoked on the pictures of your bike and even more pleased that you’re as enthusiastic about what we do as we are. Aside from our testimonials where people have said that there bikes run much cooler, we’ve actually had a local customer who owned a newer model trike that purchased the Power Flex headers with the Bomber mufflers come into the shop to share his findings with us. He had the work done at Sound Motor Sports next door. He actually had a digital temperature gauge, and at the heat shield where the catalytic converter used to be the heat was reduced almost 200 F. Everyone has different opinions when it comes to the EFI, our best resource to back up our opinion is the American Iron article that we talked about when you were in our shop- you can reference the link to that article on our site here:

http://www.americancustom.com/media/news/AmerCustom.pdf

They did that research independently and as their article states- the bike not only performed better, it dyno’d perfectly- all of which they have in writing in the article. Also- aside from the location of the oxygen sensors, a header that has been refit with our “Power Flex” system would be essentially the same as a stock header from an older generation bike (2009 and prior) which never had any issues involving rear cylinder heat or higher motor/oil temps than from what is considered normal. The best testament in response to any of nay-sayers would be your own experience, I’m sure you’ve noticed the positive changes the American Custom exhaust system and nothing beats the word right from the horse’s mouth. Let me know if you need any more information Glenn. Once again, we really appreciate your enthusiasm and your business!
