Looks good, thanks. While we on the subject sometimes when I would go to my profile the picture would be small, and on occasion I would go and it would be normal size. I could never figure that out. I had actually went and resized picture, but got distracted and never put it up on my website so I could link to it.

Its done with a gif animator software. Its pretty cheap to buy or some have free trail periods. Try http://www.ulead.com/ga/runme.htm. They have a 15 day free trail. You just need to combine picture files into the gif. If you don't want to give it a try and you have multiple pics you want to create the aniamted picture of let me know and i'll do it for you.

Go to "Profile" click on "Modify" and log in. Once you get there click on "Options". You will see in the left column second item down "I have my own pic:" in the box to the right of that put in

Then at bottom click on change profile and that will put your new avatar in service.

Most common mistake in posting attachment is people try to preview it before posting. If you do that then you have to re-attach the attachment. Best thing to do is type what you want to say, and then attach the attachment and post. After you do that the file will be loaded on server and it's easy to link to it. If you need some more help let me know.
BTW - Best size for avatar is 144 Width X 86 Height

you cant link it from your hard drive, it must be on the fourm server or another http server
on the internet, then follow dood's instructions above, and you will be good to go. good luck

It's not too shabby. It allows me to crop, resize, get red-eye out, adjust colors, etc. Just can't do any morphing, and that's probably a good thing I would have too much fun with that. ;D

BlueFelix here (Hogasm's other half). I've been reading the posts since we got back from MV and I signed up to be part of all the fun! Attached is a pic of my bike which I'd like to put on my avatar. I've gotten it resized to 144 X 90. If that doesn't work please let me know and I'll send the original pic and you all can do your magic. Hogasm also wants me to send his pic if mine works. Thanks Rog. I still can't believe Diamond Heads has as SOP a disinclination to cut that script in those heads. It it the jewel among the crown of jewels that grabs you most. Otherwise it's just a dark rectangular red spot.

Both of those are small and more vertical then horizontal. I'm afraid w/the photo editing program I have they would distort if I could stretch them. It's easier to crop/resize then it is to blow up because the picture will get grainy.
I would just try them as they are and see how you like it.

For future reference (Windows XP users) if you wish simply to post a pic, if mine are too big I right click on the pic I wish to post, then put the cursor over "Send To" and click email. It will ask you if you wish to make your image smaller to mail, click yes and it opens the outlook mail as an attachment.
then simply right click the attachment and "Save As" if you wish to keep the higher resolution pic and the smaller one.

The way you cropped it, I like it. So you effort isn't wasted, I'm trying to use the second one in my signature line but can't quite figger that one out either. Do you have a link to those instructions too?

I have cropped/resized it below. To add it to your signature you will need to go to your profile/options. Look down until you find "Signature", and to the right of that will be a box. You will then need to insert the image tag {(img][/img]) I have left the first bracket "[" off before "img] so you can see the tag, and you will need to put the bracket in to make it work}. In the middle of that tag you will need to insert the URL of the picture that I have posted. You can right click on picture, scroll down to properties and click on that. A box will appear and you can highlight/copy the "Address/URL".
In regards to the CVO Tour in April I'll have to wait and see if I'm able to make the trip, as time gets closer. Still recovering from surgery so I can't commit at this time.

You've got the image tags wrong replace "{}" with these "[]". Also the center tag needs to be corrected it should be - center][/center] (I have taken the first "[" off so it will show up here).

You did already. :confused5: If you talking about the way it looks (scrunched) it's probably do to the picture being more vertical then horizontal to start with. I'll try resizing, but I'm thinking if I try to stretch it vertically it's probably going to distort it also.

I've tried resizing it, but again because the picture is more vertical than horizontal it may get scrunched when used as an avatar. If you notice the dimensions of to the picture you posted they are 480 X 640 and I can't get anywhere close to 144 X 86 resizing it when the first number is lower to start with.
BTW - That is some great art work :2vrolijk_21: , just sorry I can't get it sized right to be your avatar.

Exactly Mike. That is the reason I find it so funny. Its me. Whether work, talking about the 2006 paint issue, dealing with my credit union, can't get caps to work, whatever! Computers frustrate me. This is the only place I can enjoy my computer..at least now since my paint is fixed. Like you, I identify with that cartoon, but I'm a member here....I don't own, run, or have any say so in the administration of this forum..........and I agreed to that when I joined........so I'm not too concerned about it. Still funny tho'. :jalapeno:

The dimensions of that picture (144X87) is close to what I would have resized (144X86) it to. Try it as is, and see how it looks.

The best size for avatars is 144(width)X86(height). I've tried resizing yours, but the best I can do is 144X108.
To make that your avatar go into your profile/forum profile information. Click on "I have my own pic" and in the box to the right highlight/copy/paste what is in the grey box below.

Hi, I'm Roger and I am new to this site. I ride a 2007 Electra Glide Screaming Eagle. It has 5300 miles on it and the motor started making some serious banging noises in the lower unit. After inspecting it and a few calls to Harley it was decided tom replace the motor as it is obviously under warranty. This is the 3rd 110 cubic inch motor to "Fail" in this area in the last 3 weeks. The problem still has not been diagnosed. It was torn apart three times and it's still a mystery at no fault of my dealer. Thank GOD my dealer took care of me, as I was very appreciative of how they handled the entire problem. I'm curious if anyone out there is aware of similar problems w/any 110's?

In your post above the map was added as an attachment which will only be shown in that specific post, and that is not in the signature. If you want to add that picture (map) to your signature you will need to go to your "Profile" -> "Forum Profile Information". When you get to that window scroll down until you see "Signature" to the right of that you'll see a text box. In that text box you will want to copy and paste what is below in the grey box...

This seems like a good place to post this. My apologies to all of you who actually own an 00 SERG Pumpkin for my avatar. I bought one back when they first came out and like a fool sold it because the motor (in stock form ) was such a dog. Note to Otis, I know what a " stock " 96" CVO motor runs like and yours is NOT STOCK buddy. Anyway, the 00 SERG Pumpkin is my favorite CVO.When I sold Elvis to MJZ I got a PM from Big Daddy to change my avatar. I still don't have a good enough pic of LD my 07 ORG to use so I used the standard one for the 00 SERG.
Maybe when I see some of you in the spring, one of you can take a nice shot of LD and I'll get it changed.

trying to post a pic but the site rejects it. Says it takes too much time, perhaps it's to large? I thought I resized it at a 4:3 ratio (115:86). Help?
Sorry it seems no one answered you, just noticed this post. The maximum file size for attachments is 1MB if you're adding a picture to a post, and it may even be a smaller limit if you're trying to upload picture for avatar. Since you are getting that error message try resizing to something smaller. If you need anymore assistance send me a PM.

Hi Naitram,
Thanks for your assistance... I'm getting closer with every attempt and "getting by with a little help from my friends".
As you can see the 2 maps are in place, but both are quite fuzzy for some reason and they are not the same size. As I mentioned, I have shrunk them down to the smallest my system will allow and they are still too big, which is most likely why they seem out of focus.
I would really appreciate your assistance (when you get a chance) at cleaning up the images and adjusting them to the correct size.

Yea they do have that option (Visited States Map (http://www.epgsoft.com/VisitedStatesMap/index.html)), but wouldn't you know they don't have the same size for US and Providences maps. :nixweiss:

I stared at your reply for several minutes while drooling on myself before I figured out you had posted a link. i tried it in a different window to verify and copied it to my signature and removed the spaces as requested. it worked 1st time. I'm not accustomed to that.
Good thing I saw Gary's instructions earlier that stated that only photos hosted on a web site can be used in the signature and a link must be used.

Click on the left mouse button, drag the cursor through the text and it should highlight. Once it's highlighted then right click and scroll to "copy" and you should have it. Not sure why that isn't working w/your 'puter.

Have forgotten the name of the river its trek follows but that road from Lola to Lewiston is always reported to be magnificent. Reason enough to go mark off the state all by itself :2vrolijk_21: .

If I think it about too much I might not be able to wait until next year and doing it either going to or returning from a Pacific NW Gathering. I think some made this run on the way to Nelson last year. I know I'd intended to until mom took ill.
The stretch that seems to get the most coverage is about 200 miles from Lolo, MT to Lewiston, ID. Since I've never done it have no idea what of that is best though. Or if it's all good.
Need to do this though Spyder. Really need to do this.

recently i have resized some pictures for members to use as there avatars, if you would like to use a picture of you ride for your avatar post a picture to this thread and i will resize it for you.
also pull a copy down to you system in case we ever loose, our attachments again

I knew that bike belonged to a member here. I saw it in the Full Throttle parking lot during Sturgis 2016. I wanted to meet the owner but no way of knowing who owned it. Maybe next time Major Tom, and the first beer is on me.

i'm sure there are other ways but from a pc right click on the picture and select copy link address

the put that link into [ img ] [ /img ] ( no spaces )

Click "select" then copy/paste this in your signature...
